DRI's New Glossary Premieres Today!

Today is the day! This afternoon, DRI International is releasing its new

International Glossary for Resiliency, a language guide designed to improve communications and increase clarity across the business continuity community. Look for an email later today with all the details!

The International Glossary for Resiliency is a free resource available everyone, whether DRI-certified or just looking for helpful information. To get it, you'll just log into your MyDRI (https://drii.org/crm/login.php) and download the PDF file. If you don't have a MyDRI, get one! MyDRI accounts are free and available to anyone who registers.

And be sure to mark March 27 on your calendars for a special webinar presentation, "Why Words Matter: DRI's International Glossary for Resiliency Unveiled, Survey Results Revealed."

During the one-hour session, committee members will discuss:

It's Gonna Be a Big Day for MBCPs at DRI2014

Calling all Master Business Continuity Professionals (MBCPs), heads up! The Order of the Sword & Shield National Honor Society (OSSNHS) will be on hand at DRI2014 to induct DRI MBCPs.

Those who were not inducted last year and any MBCPs who earned their certification after last year's event will be inducted this time around. And returning MBCPs will receive one-year anniversary pins during the ceremony.

The OSSNHS is the only academic and professional honor society dedicated exclusively to the security learning community. It recognizes those industry associations with certification programs that are dedicated to achieving academic and professional excellence. As a result, OSSNHS has granted DRI International its very own chapter within the National Honor Society, awarded because of DRI International's reputation and the quality of our education program.

Your Thoughts? Bill Seeks to Protect Employees Unable to Get to Work During Emergencies

This news report caught our eye. According to

a NJ.com report, New Jersey Senator Peter J. Barnes III introduced legislation that would protect New Jersey workers who are unable to make it into work due to a declared state of emergency. The bill also calls for penalties for employers who require employees to report for duty.

Barnes says "many workers feel compelled to head out in bad weather so they are not punished by their employers." He adds that employees "should be able to make an objective decision to drive during a storm that reflects their own and their family's safety rather than a fear of retribution by an employer or a loss of sick or vacation time."

An employer who violates the provisions of the bill would be subject to a penalty of up to $5,000 for the first offense and $10,000 for each additional offense.
