2014 President's Letter: Al Berman Shares Volunteerism Efforts, Board Changes

Each January, DRI President Al Berman shares his thoughts with DRI's Certified Professionals and the business continuity community.  This year, he focuses on volunteerism, including Disaster Recovery International Foundation efforts in the Philippines and following Hurricane Sandy.

"Words cannot express how proud it feels to be part of community that gives of itself to help others," he writes of the volunteer efforts.

And he also announces a couple of important changes to the DRI International Board of Directors that you won't want to miss.

DRI Head Weighs in on BC Town Hall at CSC

DRI International President Al Berman lent his expertise to a recent panel discussion with cybersecurity firm CSC. The web-based Town Hall provided answers to one big question: "How will regulatory changes impact disaster recovery?"

Over the course of the one-hour discussion, Berman and other panel speakers weighed in on current trends in regulations for business continuity and disaster recovery in the United States and across the globe.  They covered issues of certification as part of regulation, and the potential risks that may incur. Also discussed: the regulatory impact on government agencies, the public and private sector, and non-governmental organizations.

Other panelists included Tim Matthews, Executive Director of Enterprise Resiliency, Thom Carroll, Delivery Director of Global BC/DR, and Dan Mikulsky, Product Manager for BC/DR.

Make Your Voice Heard in This New
Benchmarking Study

You're invited to participate in the 2013-2014 Continuity Insights and KPMG LLP Global Business Continuity Management (BCM) Benchmarking study. The online survey explores changes to the global risk landscape, supply chain interdependencies, the emergence and increased usage of cloud computing, mobile applications and social media.

Since it's a comprehensive study, the survey will take about 20-25 minutes to complete 55 questions.

All study participants will receive a complimentary copy of the study results - valuable information to enhance your program and see how your organization stacks up against industry metrics, including BCM performance measurements, adoption of global regulations, budget issues, supply chain issues and more.

Business continuity professionals are encouraged to use the results of the report to target underdeveloped capabilities within their own BCM programs.
