Lifetime Achievement and Service Provider of the Year Nominations Due November 15!

Nominations for two DRI 2014 Awards of Excellence categories are due by November 15. Those categories are Lifetime Achievement and Service Provider of the Year. Winners in each category are chosen by DRI certified professionals casting their votes online. The list of nominees will be announced on November 18.

To nominate in either category, click here. And for more information, read on:

What is the Lifetime Achievement Award?
This honor goes to a person who has demonstrated exceptional achievement within business continuity, and professional excellence over the course of a significant career in the industry. Nominees must demonstrate professional credibility, a substantial public relations profile, and respect within the industry in general. The nominee should provide examples of the tenets contained within DRI's Professional Practices. Nominations should be submitted in the form of a maximum 1,000-word statement.

What is the Service Provider of the Year Award?
Designed to recognize the very best in service delivery amongst full-service business continuity providers, this category will be judged on both a company statement - prepared by both the service provider and a customer - as well as an online vote, targeted at business continuity managers across all industry sectors. The company statement should demonstrate the company's commitment in promoting business continuity to its customer base and the wider audience, which may include staff awareness, training and user-group activity, amongst other efforts. The judges will base the award on innovation and quality as well as customer service and satisfaction and an ability to respond to changing market demand. The company and customer statement each should be submitted in the form of a maximum 500-word statement.

Europe's common currency is in crisis. If it fails, the consequences would be numerous and serious and could include bank runs, social and political unrest, as well as widespread economic instability. Businesses must not adopt a wait-and-see approach. Rather, they must seek to understand the potential impacts, and then prepare for potential outcomes. Such plans should consider finance and cash management, business continuity, revenue assumptions and targets, and client and supply chains. Attend this session to better understand what this looming crisis could do to your organization, and what you must do to be ready for it!

You have the credentials and experience, but do you have what it takes to conduct an effective Business Impact Analysis? An inadequate BIA yields wrong and useless data leading to a disastrous business continuity plan. Learn important tips such as using the "SMART" method, defining and setting reachable objectives, engaging the C-suite, knowing what and how to get the data for a productive Business Impact Analysis, identifying key players in your organization, and distinguishing what may be essential to upper management may not be critical to your business continuity plan.

Thought Leadership the Theme at BRPA!

What matters right now?  If you were in Chicago, IL, last Tuesday, you'd know. DRI made the trip to the Windy City to sponsor the Business Resumption Planners Association (BRPA) meeting. DRI President Al Berman presented on the topic, "Business Continuity, What Really Matters Right Now?" and BRPA Program Director, Bob Flannery said, "The presentation was interesting, informative and fit right with the 'Thought Leadership' theme of the meeting."

The event gave DRI the opportunity to meet face-to-face with many of the BRPA members and to answer questions they had about DRI certification and DRI's own conference, DRI2014.

"It's very important and insightful for BRPA members to get an international certification organization to weigh in on what's important to the BC Practitioner from a current issues and concerns perspective", Flannery said about having DRI present at the meeting.

"We were really pleased to take part in this event," said Berman. "We are committed to supporting regional organizations like BRPA and always enjoy the opportunity to meet with our certified professionals and to meet future certified professionals as well."

The entire event was tweeted live by DRI. Be sure to follow DRI International on Twitter, as well as on Facebook, and LinkedIn.

"Events such as these help keep the business continuity profession at the cutting edge. I was also impressed by the insights presented by my fellow speakers on a wide variety of topics and trends", said Demrovsky.
