 | Helping Hands Food Drive
  Our Helping Hands food drive kicks off tomorrow! Please refer to the flyer that was sent home with your Dolphin(s) last week. Each grade is asked to shop in a different grocery store section in order to ensure variety; Target gift cards are also immensely appreciated. Donation boxes are ready and waiting to be filled in each classroom. Additionally, the parents who run the Donation Station each Thursday have generously offered to exchange a treat for a food donation. Thanks so much in advance for your support!
   Suggested donations:  KINDERGARTEN - BREAKFAST ITEMS : Oatmeal, boxed cereal, granola bars, cereal bars, protein bars, pancake mix, syrup, applesauce, hot chocolate mix, gallon juices   FIRST GRADE - PROTEINS: Canned tuna, canned chicken, canned salmon, refried beans, black beans, chili   SECOND GRADE - FRUITS & VEGETABLES (non-perishable)   THIRD GRADE - DRY GOODS AND SOUP: Pasta, macaroni and cheese, rice, Boboli pizza crusts, pasta sauce, salad dressing, boxed potatoes, boxed stuffing   FOURTH GRADE - SNACKS: Goldfish crackers, microwave popcorn, graham crackers, Cheez-Its, Wheat Thins, chips & salsa, raisins, fruit snacks | 
 | Jog-a-Thon  
The Jog-a-Thon pledge deadline has been extended to Tuesday, Nov. 5th. Pledges must be turned in by this date to be counted towards the special Jog-a-Thon Ice Cream Social. All students who receive $150 or more in pledges (including t-shirt sponsorship) will be recognized at this event. Please turn in your pledges to your teacher or the PTA box in the office by TUESDAY, November 5th! Thank you for your support!  | 
 | Shopping Fundraiser!   
You are invited for a fun night of shopping on Wednesday, November 6  from 6 pm to 9 pm at The Village at NTC' clubhouse in Liberty Station. You can get started on your holiday shopping from great vendors such as: Charlie's Butter, Stella & Dot, PartyLite, Pampered Chef, Essential and Sassy, Origami Owl, UGG Australia, Organolgold, The Coffee Bag Chick, and The Stronghold. There will be an Opportunity Drawing for great prizes. This is a fundraiser for our school. So come out, mingle with your friends, sample some food and drink, shop and support our Dolphins! I'm looking for a few volunteers to help with food/beverage, Opportunity Drawing ticket sales, and set up. Please let me know if you are interested in helping out for sometime on November 6.             | | Cake Contest Winners    Congratulations to all of the cake contest winners at the Monster Bash.  The "Best In Show" winner was Andie Isidro in 2nd Grade, Mrs. Breadmore's class (cake at left). She won the $25 Toys R Us gift card.  A complete list of winners can be found here.

This week's Donation Station theme is fall leaves/pumpkins/ cranberries. Join us Thursday @1:10 in front of the school for some yummy treats:-) Our school food drive has begun....if you bring a non- perishable food item, you will receive a treat of your choice. Also, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS  to help run the Donation Station! There are 12 more shifts before winter break, and we only have 3 filled. We cannot keep it running without YOUR help.      It's almost time to order yearbooks! Signup envelopes will be going home with students before Thanksgiving. We've had some great events so far at Loma Portal and would love to see your photos!  | Operation Switch Witch   Don't know what to do with all of that Halloween candy? Parents and students are invited to the 4th annual Operation Switch Witch on Monday, November 4th from 3:30pm to 6:00pm. Trick-or-treaters can bring their excess goodies to the office at Fine Dentistry in the Old Town area and receive a $1.00 per pound of wrapped & unopened candy. Each child will also receive a free toothbrush! The best part? Collected candy will shipped to troops overseas through Operation Gratitude in cooperation with the California Army National Guard.    Ice cream is always a dollar at the Klassic Kids Wednesday Ice Cream Shop. They feature ice cream bars. popsicles, fudgesicles, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cones. Klassic Kids is a non profit organization and utilizes this funding for summer field trips. Thank you so much!  |
