Featured Fundraiser: Cambalache's
Un Historia de Fandango
g
In order to continue our support of traditional artists' efforts to continue their work within today's difficult funding climate, ACTA is excited to now feature the fundraising projects of current and former grantees and participants. This month, we highlight the Kickstarter page of son jarocho ensemble Cambalache (including former master artist Cesar Castro and apprentice Xochi Flores) as they raise funds for a recording project.

g Preserving the Colors of my Skirt: Laga, Backstrap Weaving of the Kalinga of the Philippines
As 2012 participants in ACTA's Apprenticeship Program, master artist Jenny Bawer Young and her apprentice Holly Calica work to preserve the art of Laga, or the backstrap loom weaving of the Filipino Kalinga people. Jenny is most likely the only Kalinga weaver in California and possibly in the United States.
