 MONDAY MORNING LEADERSHIP TIP #207

Keeping the Happy in your Holidays

To "get along" through the holidays -- and really any time of the year, it is imperative that you can identify different personality types... and how to work with them.

PLAYFUL YELLOW:

The "people person," a big talker, can be loud and interrupting, loves excitement and fun, creative, doesn't like schedules and planners, is often late, can turn a boring task into great fun.

What to do: Give them wiggle room; they are active people, have to keep moving. Don't expect them to be on time; plan to start without them, or give earlier start time for them. Allow them to tell their funny stories, but decide on your boundaries in advance and stick to them.

PROPER BLUE:

Functions best in a structured environment, great planner, very organized, wants to know what's coming, need time to prepare, perfectionistic, quiet.

What do to: Be prompt, give details, do things in an orderly manner, without a lot of changes and surprises. Proper Blues want things done right and accomplished very timely. Allow them to have some quiet time; they are exhausted by constant activity.

POWERFUL RED:

Always busy, thrives on achievement and production, fast-paced, multi-tasker, long to do lists, loves to lead, somewhat bossy, little insensitive to others' feelings.

What to do: Be quick, to the point, don't make small talk and tell long stories. Powerful Reds are very busy people, and just want to accomplish their task as quickly as possible.

PEACEFUL GREEN:

Laid back, cool/calm/collected, doesn't get in a hurry, quiet, soft-spoken, likeable, has few enemies, dislikes conflict, tends to procrastinate.

What to do: Don't rush things, and avoid giving a lot of choices; keep details to a minimum. Peaceful Greens dislike situations that create undue stress. Needs a lot of quiet time.

Which one are you? You're most likely a combination of two of these primarily, with the other two making up a lesser part of who you are. Whichever combination you are will determine the personalities you relate to the easiest. But it's SO helpful to understand all four, and apply the strategies that will make relating to your friends, family and co-workers through the holidays much less stressful.

This Combo set is free with your purchase of Bringing Out the Best in You and Others through November 21st.

Or, purchase the Through the Eyes Combo set as a stand-alone option for your training needs.

Want more information to help you do this? "Through The Eyes" e-books have been developed to give you an in-depth look at each of the four personality styles.

 Combo Set includes:

Through the Eyes of the Peaceful Green
Through the Eyes of the Playful Yellow
