Bishop Aitken's Reflection

Yesterday I teamed up to lead worship with Pastor Jeannie Megorden, at Bethel Lutheran, Little Falls. (Pastor Megorden is actually pastor to a 3 point Parish: Bethel/Little Falls, Immanuel/Hillman, and Bethany/Cushing). I preached on the All Saints texts, presided at the Eucharist, and shared fun stories, anecdotes, faith conversation and jokes with folks at the Pot Luck afterward. There was unmistakable hospitality and joy all around. I also thanked the members for their mission support of the wider ministries we do in our synod and around the world. Pastor Megorden led the liturgy and Children's sermon. I love her creativity and her sense of the larger church we live together in!
Bethel Lutheran folks are spirited and fun, and do an amazing outreach out of their love for God, their discipleship in Christ and the call to gracious servanthood. One thing In particular: They host a "Fare For All" which is a Food Service, not totally unlike Ruby's Pantry. Fare For All Express comes once a week and sells, for a very reduced amount, packages of fruits, vegetables and frozen meats. It helps hundreds of folks stretch their grocery dollar, and is open to everyone! Bethel members shared with me that joy that comes from serving our neighbor, just as Jesus, the prophets, the early disciples of Jesus, men and women, and Martin Luther spoke so clearly about.
Love God, Love your neighbor,

 Bishop Aitken
Bible and Brew Study Retreats
Believing and Having Faith
Bishop Aitken is open to leading a Bible and Faith Study for men's, women's or mixed men and women's Retreats around the theme Belief and Faith. He uses the Gospels as well as other Biblical texts around the meanings of trust, fidelity, faith and believing. You could arrange with one of our Camps (where he has done these already) or at a location of your choosing. He presents a Biblical understanding of what faith and belief really are, and in particular, as a Lutheran Christian.
You may contact the synod office to make arrangements with him.
