Honoring Marie Payne

Marie Payne, 2015 Volunteer of the Year

It's no secret that only through our volunteers have we been able to serve more than 20,000 children over the years. That's why honoring our outstanding volunteers is so important to us.

This year it is our privilege to recognize Marie Payne, who has been supporting Clothes To Kids of Denver since 2008.

After retiring from Denver Human Services, Marie began volunteering for our organization. She helped set up the first store, working with her nephew to drill holes in concrete walls, paint, hang slat wall, and install baseboard molding and store fixtures.

Now she volunteers every Tuesday, doing whatever is asked of her.

She has also been a wonderful advocate for our organization in the community, introducing us to generous donors Sharon Walsh and the Olson Vander-Heyden Foundation.

For all of these things and so much more, we are grateful to Marie for her many wonderful contributions to Clothes To Kids of Denver.

Throw a Party with a PurposeSintheC

Who doesn't love a party, right?

Now, here's a great way to enjoy a fun gathering of your friends while helping to expand the reach of a worthwhile organization: Host a "Socks in the City" event in your home benefiting Clothes To Kids of Denver. As part of the festivities, Executive Director Katie Jones Jadwin and Development Director Val Lunka will take a few moments to explain the agency's mission.  We'll be asking your guests for their support so that we can continue to serve children in need.

We've made much of promoting your party as easy as a Moscow Mule. We'll create customized invitations for your event, an online registration system, and even your very own "landing page." Take a look at an example right here.

To learn more about how you can have a fun event while doing good for Clothes To Kids of Denver, contact Val Lunka.

Thank You to Our Donors!
Donor
We're already off to a fast start with our Blue Jean Bash, as our loyal and generous donors, Bill and Sandy Arnold, have signed up to be our first Gold Sponsors!

It's not the first time we've had reason to be thankful to the Arnolds. Over the years, they have brought in hundreds of dollars worth of new shoes and clothing for our shoppers.

Thank you both for your generosity and commitment to kids!
What We DoWWD

Since 2008, Clothes To Kids of Denver (CTKD) has provided more than 20,000 school wardrobes to students in need throughout the Denver Metro area.

Why is an appropriate wardrobe so important?

For children and teens, clothing is more than a basic need -- it's key to their success in school. When students have quality clothing that helps them feel confident, they are more likely to attend school with the self-esteem needed to succeed academically.

At CTKD, students shop in a store-like environment with the help of staff and volunteers who are dedicated to providing a high level of personalized service. Students are invited to shop twice per year.

Recently, CTKD expanded its service area to include ten Denver Metro counties. That expansion means that 190,000 students are now eligible to shop at CTKD.

How Much Does a Wardrobe Cost?
It costs CTKD about $50 to furnish a wardrobe for one child. Each wardrobe includes more than 20 items of clothing, such as:
  • Five pairs of socks
  • Five pairs of underwear
  • Five tops
  • Four bottoms, such as skirts, pants, and shorts
  • One dress (optional)
  • One pair of shoes
  • One jacket
