THE COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
HAPPENINGS
Our Career Talk Tuesdays have launched with great success...
In an effort to educate students on future career choices we have started a new program that brings in guest speakers of varying careers to speak with students about their career path and how they got there.  So far, we've had a representative of the Banking Industry, Law Enforcement, and Health & Beauty.  Our next speakers include a Fire Chief, Hospitality and Social Work, and a Lawyer, next Tuesday.  Sign up thru Naviance

Ms. Riekenberg has recently met with all
10th graders to discuss future career options and students took a career assessment in Naviance.  Ask them about their results!

ROTARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Peter George has been selected as the November Rotary Student of the Month! He is currently in his second year of ROP Sign Language.

His teacher Ms. Winterton says, "Peter was chosen due to his ability to be flexible in any situation and work with any student.  He has grown tremendously since last year and continues to excel.  He has taken all my corrective criticism and has grown from it and has improved his skills.  He is definitely a student that stands out and has impressed me with great effort and passion when it comes to this beautiful visual language."
COLLEGE SPOTLIGHT
United States Military Academy

Since its founding over two centuries ago, the Military Academy has accomplished its mission by developing cadets in four critical areas: intellectual, physical, military, and moral-ethical - a 47 month process called the "West Point Experience." The academic curriculum has 42 Majors and Fields of Study that strengthen cadets' historical perspective, cultivate their cultural understanding, structure their military training and leader development. The curriculum draws upon three distinct programs academic, military, and physical.

West Point is renowned as a historic and distinguished military academy, and a leading, progressive institution of higher education. Because of this superb education and leadership experience, West Point graduates, who historically have been sought for high-level civilian and military leadership positions, include two U.S. presidents, several ambassadors, state governors, legislators, judges, cabinet members, educators, astronauts, engineers, CEOs and generals.

West Point consistently ranks among the top five in college ratings; in fact, Forbes.com recently ranked West Point 4th among all undergraduate colleges in the U.S. and the best public college in the country, while US News and World Report ranked West Point the Best Public Liberal Arts College in the United States.
