Spotlight on Scholarships

The year is winding down but we still have several scholarships available.

The Scholarship of Five Thousand (SOFT) is due May 20th awarded to one senior boy and one senior girl.

The deadline has been extended for the We Hire and Youth Ambassador for Juniors Scholarship-May 22.

Please remember to log your scholarship awards in your Naviance account.

Two students

Blake Thome is currently a sports medicine intern and is also enrolled in ROP Sports Medicine where he has completed over 1000 hours of community service. Blake has committed to serving our country as a United States Marine.

Katelyn Gersjes is also doing a fantastic job as a sports medicine intern. Last year she excelled in the ROP Sports Medicine course. Katelyn has committed to Grand Canyon University where she plans to continue her pursuit in sports medicine as a member of their athletic training student program.
Employment Info for Students

Summer is close and many students are interested in obtaining employment.  A Work Permit is needed and should have employer and parent signature and student SSN and can be processed in the Career Center.  Work permits granted now will be good until the current school term is over and a new one will need to be issued in the summer.  The Main Office will be processing work permits during summer.  Here are some current job openings. 

 

Papa Murphy's Take "n" Bake Pizza is now opening in Rossmoor and hiring a Guest Services Team Member and a Back of House Prep Team Member.  Applications are available in the Career Center or call (562) 688-4569 for more details.

Senior Awards Night
May 21st will be our Senior Awards Night.  It promises to be a night to remember so mark your calendars!  See you there!  Congratulations to all seniors for all of your hard work.  Come out and show support for our future college goer's!   Seniors, be sure to request your final transcripts to be sent to the college you are attending through the Registrar's office. 
Senior Survey
Seniors will be taking the Senior Survey posted on Naviance on the "About Me" tab during their Government/Econ class beginning next week.  Through this survey, the list of colleges is compiled that will be posted on "The Wall" for all to see!  Make sure you answer the questions completely and seriously!!

EAP Lunchtime Speaker
Mark your calendars for May 19th @ lunch in the Career Center...we will be hosting a speaker from CSULB who will present on the topic of the EAP just in time for SBAC testing.  The EAP portion of the SBAC could exempt you from English and Math college placement tests.

Scholarship Just for Juniors
The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Youth Ambassador program.  A scholarship of $500 will be awarded in the senior year after Ambassador duties have been met.
