PATHWAY CORD PACKETS DUE 4/22
Pathway Cord Packets are due, Wednesday, 4/22 in the Career Center. You must fulfill all cord requirements: 1) 5 semesters in industry and subject related courses. Courses must be completed with a grade B or better and an overall 2.0 GPA is required with satisfactory citizenship/effort. PLUS 2) 10 hours of job shadowing for each cord earned. AND 3) the Portfolio consisting of a Resume, Postsecondary Education Plan, Skills Assessment, a PowerPoint/Prezi/Video (emailed to sriekenberg@losal.org or submitted on CD/flash drive). Incomplete packets will not be accepted. Packets are available in the Career Center or for download here.
Students Explore Careers at the Career Forum
The Career Forum sponsored by Constitutional Rights Foundation took place April 2nd on the OCC Campus. Students heard speakers on a wide variety of topics relating to College and Career. Check out these 4 Los Al Students enjoying a break before the Law Enforcement Careers Workshop.

Employment Info for Students
Summer is close and many students are interested in obtaining employment. A Work Permit is needed and should have employer and parent signature and student SSN and can be processed in the Career Center. Work permits granted now will be good until the current school term is over and a new one will need to be issued in the summer. The Main Office will be processing work permits during summer. City of Lakewood will be holding workshops to prepare teens for employment. Here are some current job openings.
Students from the Long Beach Area can take advantage of the Work Readiness Credential sponsored by Pacific Gateway.
National Hispanic College Fair 4/27 @ Vanguard University
The College and Career Center will be taking approximately 45 students to this College Fair. College Fairs are very valuable in assisting students make the decision of which college to attend. 50 colleges and trade schools will be in attendance. Juniors and Seniors can attend with juniors given first priority. Field Trip Slips will be available in the Career Center and due by 4/22.
Rotary Student of the Month-April
Judith Bramasco is currently enrolled in Child Development and Careers with Children where she assists with the preschoolers on campus. Her teacher Mrs. Rea says she is doing an excellent job. Next year Judith plans to attend Gold West College. Judith will be recognized at the next Rotary meeting. Congratulations, Judith!
