A perfect highlight for the beginning of your holiday season: GNHCC will present its fall concert, Tapestry of Voices, at Battell Chapel in New Haven on Saturday, December 10th.

The program will be diverse, featuring Daniel Pinkham's Christmas Cantata-accompanied by brass choir, Haydn's Missa Brevis in B-flat ("Small Organ Mass"), and works by Lauridsen and Runestad.

The date is firm, so mark your calendar!  Additional details about the concert time and ticket availability will be announced soon.

GNHCC kicked off the 2016-17 Season with two very special highlights.

GNHCC's first rehearsal of the fall is always a fun evening - greeting new members, reconnecting with friends from previous seasons, and singing through some of the upcoming semester's repertoire.

In addition to 'the usual', this season's first rehearsal on September 8th was especially noteworthy, topped off by two particularly wonderful highlights.

September 8th marked the 103rd birthday of our beloved emeritus member, Grace York! Still active and very sharp, Grace is an inspiration to us all!
Grace York and daughter,Dottie Althoff - both long-time members of GNHCC

Grace attributes her energetic longevity in part to having sung with Greater New Haven Community Chorus for many decades, to having a strong faith and a loving family.

Although vision difficulties prohibit Grace from continuing to sing with GNHCC, she avidly continues to be an official member of the chorus and frequently attends rehearsals and is always in the audience for our concerts.

Congratulations, Grace!
And welcome, Helen!
Celebrating Grace's 103rd birthday made us realize how truly diverse the age range of our chorus actually is - with members' ages spanning 80 decades - from one of our newest members, Helen Sun, who is 'under 25', to Grace who is 103!

Former GNHCC Accompanist, Tom Dickinson, offered a presentation about Siberian Bridges and played a mini-concert for the GNHCC members.

During the last portion of our first rehearsal, we were treated to a performance by pianist Tom Dickinson, a former accompanist for GNHCC who performed movements 3 and 4 from Beethoven's Sonata Op. 31 for the GNHCC singers.  After his mini-concert, Tom gave a presentation about his non-profit group, Siberian Bridges, a cross-cultural mission, originally called Musical Bridges.

The mission of the Siberian Bridges organization is to cultivate contact and cooperation with the people of Eastern Siberia to empower the development of individuals, communities and civil society. They operate primarily in the region of Zabaikalye -- one of the most remote and impoverished areas of the former Soviet Union.

Thank you, Tom, for spending time with your old friends from GNHCC!
