GNHCC Ronald Dean Konetchy Choral Conducting Assistant Scholarship |
Applications Being Accepted Now through April 15
Every year, the Greater New Haven Community Chorus offers the GNHCC Ronald Dean Konetchy Choral Conducting Assistant Scholarship.
This program presents a remarkable opportunity for a university or college student who is interested in the art of choral conducting. The recipient is awarded the opportunity to gain real-world experience through weekly interaction with this large chorus of varying levels and ability. Under the mentorship of Noah Blocker-Glynn, Artistic Director, the Choral Conducting Assistant will hone analysis and score study skills, gain invaluable experience "on the podium," refine rehearsal technique and performance practice, enhance knowledge of vocal pedagogy, as well as assist in the daily administration and artistic direction of the organization. An opportunity like this is considered rare for young aspiring conductors. The friendly and welcoming environment of GNHCC, along with the energetic and passionate approach of the artistic director only increase the value of this experience.
For more details on this remarkable opportunity, visit our website.
And while you are there, read what past recipients had to say about their scholarship experience!
Be sure to share this email and information with a candidate that is pursuing a choral conducting degree that may be interested in furthering their education with this valuable experience.
The application to apply is available online in 3 easy steps! But hurry -- the application deadline is April 15!

Spring is Almost Here! Come Out and Share a Meal and Support Us at the Same Time!
We are going to try this once again! Unfortunately, we have had to cancel this event twice due to the harsh winter weather. But we are feeling good about it this time - knowing that Spring is just around the corner.
Ruby Tuesday's of North Haven has generously offered to partner with Greater New Haven Community Chorus for three full days of Giving Back. Eat at Ruby Tuesday on March 15, 16 or 17 and 20% of your entire meal ticket will be donated directly to GNHCC as part of the Ruby Tuesday Community GiveBack Program.
Visit our website for more details - the required flyer to be presented to your server, map/directions, and a peak at the menu.
We hope to see you there! We are always grateful for your continued support.

On Friday evening, February 20, GNHCC hosted two Swedish choral conductors through the American Choral Directors Association's International Conductors Exchange Program. The chorus spent the evening working with Ida Fahl and Pär Olofsson who were visiting the U.S. while on their way to the ACDA National Conference in Salt Lake City, UT.

GNHCC to Participate in THE
Greater New Haven Community Chorus will once again be participating in the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven's THE greatGive, a 36 hour, online giving event at giveGreater.org on May 5 - 6. Last year, we raised over $15,000.00 during this event. The generous donations from our supporters, an additional prize for the largest number of new donors, and an anonymous donation matching the amount raised during the first few hours of the event, all contributed to GNHCC's success -- thanks to many of you and your valued support. As a nonprofit organization now in its 52nd year, we rely heavily on the generous support of our families, friends, and followers to fund the many activities of the group - including the gift of sharing music right here in our own community of greater New Haven. Please consider making a donation during the 36 hour period on May 5 and 6. We rely on you and are always grateful for your generous and thoughtful support as we continue with our mission of "Building Community One Note at a Time."

GNHCC Invited to Perform at Edgerton Park 50th Anniversary Celebration on June 14
GNHCC has been invited by the New Haven Park & Recreation Department to participate in its celebration of Edgerton Park's Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration on Sunday afternoon, June 14.
A green space jewel set on the Hamden and New Haven border, Edgerton Park has been a part of the New Haven parks system since 1965. The 25 acres making up Edgerton Park were given to the City of New Haven in 1965 by Frederick F. Brewster. Eli Whitney was the original owner of the property. Edgerton Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
More details on this event will be available soon! We are excited about the invitation and looking forward to giving back to the community with our choral program as a part of this special celebration!
