It's been a busy time at GNHCC this fall. We continue to rehearse and prepare for our 2015 Fall Concert on December 15. In addition, we are planning events to bring holiday music to the greater New Haven community. This past Saturday a group of GNHCC members gathered in Branford for our annual all day fall retreat where we spent the day rehearsing, participating in relationship building activities, and socializing.
More importantly today -- Veterans Day -- we invite you to join us in honoring and celebrating our veterans for their heroism and service to our country by purchasing a concert ticket that will allow a veteran to attend our 2015 Fall Concert -- War & Peace ~Reflection, Honor and Hope. The tickets you purchase will be donated to either a service member, a veteran, or their families through Vet Tix -- the Veteran Ticket Foundation.
The concert program commemorates the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I, the 75th anniversary of the start of World War II, honoring those who served, and the hope for peace. More details on the program and how to donate tickets to veterans can be found below.

Honoring US Veterans and Their Families
The Program will honor US veterans and their families. Ticket buyers are encouraged to purchase and donate tickets to the Veteran Ticket Foundation by giving something to those who gave so much.
The Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) provides free event tickets to family members of troops Killed In Action (K.I.A.), our Military Service Members home on leave, and Veterans to sporting events, concerts, performing arts and family activities.
Attending these events reduces stress through entertainment, strengthens family bonds, builds life long memories and encourages service members to stay engaged with American life and local communities. Giving free event tickets is an expression of appreciation, acknowledgement and an enduring symbol that honors the service of our troops today and long after their tour of duty has passed. Helping our veterans attend events provides positive family and life experiences after their years of service to our country.
The option to donate tickets to Vet Tix will appear during the checkout when you purchase your tickets. These additional tickets will be immediately donated to Vet Tix for distribution to members of the military and their families. Patrons purchasing and donating tickets prior to November 30 will appear in the Fall Concert program and be recognized as Friends of US Veterans.
Concert tickets can be purchased and ticket donations made to Vet Tix online at www.gnhcc.org.

Morten Lauridsen,
Composer
|
will perform Lauridsen's O Nata Lux, a sacred a cappella motet taken from his song cycle Lux Aeterna - a composite of choral music consisting of individually complete songs for solo and ensemble voices. The piece has become one of the all-time best-selling choral octavos distributed by Theodore Presser, in business since 1783.
Lauridsen's Latin sacred settings, such as the Lux Aeterna and motets, often reference Gregorian chant plus Medieval and Renaissance procedures while blending them within a freshly contemporary sound. Since 1993 Lauridsen's music has rapidly increased in international popularity and by the end of last century, he had eclipsed Randall Thompson as the most frequently performed American choral composer.
GNHCC to Offer Sneak Peak Preview of Fall Concert Program GNHCC's 24 member Chamber Choir will perform a cappella works and the entire Greater New Haven Community Chorus will present a sneak peak of its upcoming Fall Concert - War & Peace ~ Reflection, Honor and Hope, featuring a selection from contemporary composer Dan Forrest's Requiem for the Living, and choral works of Bach and Ames.
