GNHCC 2014 Fall Concert --

The GNHCC Fall 2014 Concert -- War and Peace ~ Reflection, Honor and Hope commemorates the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I, the 75th anniversary of the start of World War II, honoring those who served, and the hope for peace.

The program performed by the 100 member chorus will feature Requiem for the Living by noted composer Dan Forrest, and feature a chamber orchestra.

In addition, Veni, a new composition by composer Matthew Cramer based on historic war texts will also be performed. Additional choral selections celebrating peace, hope and love will also be included in the program.
The performance, under the direction of Noah Blocker-Glynn with accompanist Mark Sullivan will take place at St. Mary's Church, 5 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven on Saturday evening, December 13 at 8:00 PM.

Connecticut Children's Chorus - Primi Voci, for young treble voices will also join GNHCC for this performance. The Connecticut Children's Chorus (CCC) is one of the region's most comprehensive youth chorus programs. Under the artistic direction of Dr. Stuart Younse, CCC continues to thrive as our region's premiere children's chorus, boasting performance invitations with the region's best professional ensembles and provides strength and excellence in training Connecticut's youngest talented voices. The Connecticut Children's Chorus is now the official children's chorus of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
The concert program will also feature GNHCC's Chamber Choir performing two pieces; one composed by Staheli, and the second by Ticheli, which was composed specifically in response to war.
This year GNHCC is offering Season Tickets for admission to both the 2104 Fall Concert and the 2015 Spring Concert. Season Tickets will remain on sale until Friday, December 12, and are available through a GNHCC member or online at our website.
The Spring Concert -- Songs of Sanctuary will explore the many sanctuaries of the human existence -- from love and marriage, to spiritual refuge, inner reflection, friendship, music and more. The concert program will feature works by Haydn, Jenkins, Walker, Whitacre, and others. The 2015 Spring Concert will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, 292 Orange Street, New Haven on Saturday evening, June 6, 2015 at 8:00 PM.

GNHCC to Support Veteran Tickets Foundation at 2014 Fall Concert ~ Giving Something to Those Who Gave
GNHCC will be supporting the Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) at its annual Fall Concert by giving concert ticket buyers the opportunity to purchase additional tickets to the concert and donate them to Vet Tix. The option to donate tickets to Vet Tix will appear during the checkout. These additional tickets will be immediately donated to Vet Tix for distribution to members of the military and their families. Donated tickets cannot be cancelled or refunded. Patrons purchasing and donating tickets to Vet Tix prior to November 30 will appear in the Fall Concert program listed as Friends of US Veterans & Their Families.

GNHCC Welcomes New Members as it Plans Fall and Holiday Events

GNHCC began rehearsals for its fall semester on Thursday, September 4, and welcomed many new members from the greater New Haven area to the chorus in all voice sections. We now number over 100 voices! We extend a big welcome to our new members -- we are glad that you have joined us!

The chorus has been busy rehearsing for the annual Fall Concert and several community choral performances in December, including Choirs for a Cause in Guilford, and Christmas caroling at Davenport Dunbar Senior Residences' annual tree trimming event in Hamden.

GNHCC to Participate
in New Haven Read's Annual Spelling Bee
GNHCC board members Tomas Miranda, Laura Pringleton, and Katherine McManus will participate in The New Haven Reads Spelling Bee as the B(ee) Sharp team representing GNHCC. (That's Bee #s, not to be confused with the B flats!) We hope you can drop by and lend support to the GNHCC Bee Sharps -- from what we have heard, it could be quite a challenge -- with words like eleemosynary, clinquant, contumely, and ratiocination. It will be a fun evening. Indubitably!
