We've all heard the quotes and clichés about "Real Men ... "  This week, GNHCC is offering its final workshop in our Spring/Summer Workshop Series ~ Real Men Sing!  We encourage real men to rise to the challenge and come out and sing with Noah Blocker-Glynn, GNHCC Conductor & Artistic Director!

Read what TIME magazine and Chorus America have to say about singing, how it changes the brain, and its benefits.  Group singing has been scientifically proven to lower stress, relieve anxiety, and elevate endorphins!  So, come out and join us!  Details and registration information for Real Men Sing! can be found below.

In addition, the GNHCC fall semester and rehearsals start September 4.  If you like to sing or would like to sing, please join us during our three week enrollment period.  If you know if someone that may be interested, please share this email with them.  This year's fall concert is scheduled to take place Saturday evening, December 13 and rehearsals are every Thursday evening.  More details can be found below.

GNHCC Summer Workshop:
Real Men Sing!

Tuesday, July 22, 2014 - 7:00 - 9:00 pm
First Presbyterian Church, New Haven, CT
Noah Blocker-Glynn, Artistic Director, GNHCC

In a relaxed setting, male participants will experience the power of their own voices in a safe environment with workshop leader Noah Blocker-Glynn, Conductor & Artistic Director of GNHCC.

Attendees will be amazed and encouraged as our GNHCC workshop leader helps male singers discover and hone some of the basic skills in tone production, vowel formation, and listening for tuning.

This will be an exciting start or a brush-up.  It is also designed to "jump start" and motivate men to participate in choral programs.  In addition, it demonstrates that a very diverse group of men can come together, build community, create enriching music and have a great time doing it.

Participants will experience camaraderie, smooth harmonies and the opportunity to sing some of the best men's choral repertoire.

Online registration ends Monday, July 21 at 7:00 pm.  After that, participants may register at the door.

Fall Semester Rehearsals Start

Thursday, September 4, 2014 -- 7:15 pm

First Presbyterian Church, New Haven, CT

To join GNHCC, prospective members are invited to attend any of the first three rehearsals as guests before joining. This provides an opportunity for interested singers to meet the chorus and to see if GNHCC provides the atmosphere that they are looking for. The enrollment period for new members is the first three weeks of each semester. Singers who miss the enrollment period and wish to join mid-semester must speak directly with the Artistic Director.

A strong commitment to performance excellence is expected and there are opportunities for small ensemble work and solos by audition, including the auditioned GNHCC Chamber Choir.  Participation each semester in a one day retreat is encouraged to help build choral skills and to provide an opportunity to socialize with other members of the chorus.  Chorus members are also encouraged to share individual skills with the GNHCC to help fulfill its mission.

Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening from 7:30 to 10:00 at First Presbyterian Church, at 704 Whitney Avenue, New Haven.  More details and registration information can be found at www.gnhcc.org.
