GNHCC will be presenting a special concert -- The GNHCC Great GiveŽ Concert on Tuesday evening, May 6. We will once again be participating in the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven's Great GiveŽ -- a 36-hr online giving event hosted by giveGreater.org and supported with matching and prize funds from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the Valley Community Foundation. We continue to work hard at rehearsals getting ready for our 2014 Spring Concert on May 31 at Battell Chapel. We hope you can join us that evening -- it will be a great event as we wind down our 50th anniversary season.
A special thanks to those who submitted recipes for our GNHCC 50th Anniversary Cookbook. We gathered over 150 of your favorite recipes (and ours)! Once the book is printed, we will send you details on how to get a copy.

GNHCC Chamber Chorus

Members of the full GNHCC chorus, its Chamber Choir and Artistic Staff will be performing a concert on Tuesday evening, May 6 at 8:00 PM to raise funds that will make us eligible for grant and prize money when donated through the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven's Great GiveŽ -- a campaign to raise funding for New Haven's non-profit organizations. The Great GiveŽ is a 36 hour giving event that takes place May 6 - 7. More details can be found on our website.
The GNHCC Great GiveŽ Concert will take place at Bethesda Lutheran Church on Whitney Avenue in New Haven. The suggested donation at the door is $25.00 by credit card, cash or check.

GNHCC Choral Conducting Assistant Scholarship Deadline Extended: April 22, 2014
We have extended the deadline for the GNHCC Choral Conducting Assistant Scholarship applications. We are now accepting applications through April 22.
This program presents a remarkable opportunity for a university or college student who is interested in the art of choral conducting. Interested candidates should currently be enrolled in a local college, community college, or university music degree program and have a have a strong interest in choral music, conducting, and teaching.

Patron Donation and Sponsorship Advertising for 50th Anniversary Spring Concert Program -- Deadline: May 15, 2014
Patron Donations to be included in the 50th Anniversary Spring Concert program must be received no later than May 15 to be included in the concert program. This a great opportunity to remember family and friends.
Patron Donation Levels:
- Director's Circle: $1000 or more -- 4 reserved seating tickets to each of our next two concerts and recognition in both concert programs
- Soloist's Circle: $500-$1000 -- 4 tickets to each of our next two concerts and recognition in both concert programs
- Accompanist's Circle: $250-$500 -- 2 tickets to each of our next two concerts and recognition in both concert programs
- Composer's Circle: $100-$250 -- recognition in concert program
- Singer's Circle: $99 or less -- recognition in concert program.
All patron donors who participate in the Great GiveŽ to support GNHCC will be listed in the Spring Concert program accordingly.

GNHCC on Display at New Haven Free Public Library
The winning photographs and poetry from our contests that were used as the inspiration behind our 50th anniversary commissioned choral piece by award-winning
composer Jake Runestad are on display at the NHFPL Main Branch at Elm Street at the corner of Temple. Look for the photos and poems in the two display cases on either side of the elevator on the main level from now through April 30th, and again from May 7th through May 28th on the gallery panels, located in the business and periodicals section.

GNHCC will be participating in the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven's Great GiveŽ -- a 36 hour, online giving event that takes place May 6 -7. Spring Concert & Workshop Update: A Pre-concert Presentation by Composer Jake Runestad
We are currently making plans for a pre-concert talk by our commissioned composer Jake Runestad to take place before our Spring Concert. Once we have finalized all the details we will be providing more information. Please watch for an update in future newsletters!

Jake will also be conducting a choral singers workshop on Wednesday evening, May 28 -- " An Evening with Award-winning composer Jake Runestad featuring his work "I Will Lift Mine Eyes."
It will be a great opportunity to sight read with a conductor who has worked with student, volunteer, and professional ensembles across the country. There is still time to register. More information is available at www.gnhcc.org.

GNHCC 2014 Spring Concert
Saturday, May 31, 2014 -- 8:00 p.m.
Battell Chapel, New Haven, CT
The GNHCC Spring Concert, to be held on May 31, 2014, will be the finale of a year-long celebration of the chorus' 50th Anniversary Celebration and will feature a special commissioned work, Voices of One by award-winning composer Jake Runestad written specifically for Greater New Haven Community Chorus. In addition to the world premiere of the 50th anniversary commissioned work, the concert will include Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten, and works by Gwyneth Walker, Moses Hogan, Gerald Finzi and Frank Ticheli. GNHCC Workshop Series
GNHCC is offering a series of choral workshops during our Spring semester which will run from April through July. These workshops are open to GNHCC members and non-members. The workshops will be led by extraordinary music teachers, artistic directors, choral conductors and composers.
