Last year was a very busy and special year for GNHCC as we began the celebration of our 50th Anniversary. We want to reach out and thank all of our friends, followers, and sponsors who have attended our concerts and helped with financial support by participating in many of our fund raising events. We've had a long, enjoyable history bringing choral music to the Greater New Haven Community by "Building Community One Note at a Time." We hope to continue that mission in the future for many years to come.

Our 50th Anniversary
2013 was a busy year for GNHCC. We kicked off our 50th Anniversary Celebration with a concert held on November 9 at the Hamden Middle School which featured a commissioned work by Josh Hummel and a Broadway arrangement written by Robert Tomasulo. The concert was dedicated to Ronald D. Konetchy (1933 - 2002), Founding Director of GNHCC.
Later in the same month the GNHCC Chamber Choir performed at the 85th Anniversary and Annual Meeting of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven at the Schubert Theater. In December, the Chamber Choir also performed Music for the Philippines - a Benefit Concert for Typhoon Relief with the Christ Church Choir in Guilford. Together, the groups raised over $1,200. All donations collected were sent to UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, and Episcopal Relief & Development. And finally, later in December we performed our Annual Holiday Concert on December 15 at Battell Chapel with the CT Men's Choral Ensemble of the award-winning Connecticut Children's Chorus which featured selections from Handel's Messiah.

Spring 2014 Rehearsal Information
Experience the Joy of Singing! ... Our rehearsals began on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 7:30 - 10:00 p.m. and are held weekly every Thursday evening at the First Presbyterian Church at 704 Whitney Avenue in New Haven.
Prospective members are invited to attend three rehearsals as guests before committing to join. Attending the enrollment rehearsals provides an opportunity for interested singers to meet the chorus and Noah Blocker-Glynn, Artistic Director to see if GNHCC provides an appealing atmosphere. Open enrollment ends this Thursday, January 23.

GNHCC 2014 Spring Concert

The Annual Spring Concert, to be held on May 31, 2014, will be the finale of a year-long celebration of the chorus' 50th Anniversary and will feature a special commissioned work by notable composer Jake Runestad written specifically for Greater New Haven Community Chorus. In addition to the world premiere of the 50th anniversary commissioned work, the concert will include Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten, as well as works by Gwyneth Walker, Moses Hogan, Gerald Finzi and Frank Ticheli. More detailed information will be available shortly.
