*Students cannot be signed out or released after 2:45pm daily. In order to sign a student out early, you must do so prior to 2:45pm.

On average teenagers need 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 hours of sleep. How to ensure you get a good night's sleep:
- Remove TV's, computers, and other electronic gadgets from your room.
- Avoid large meals right before bed.
- Develop a regular bedtime routine.
- Make sure your room is quiet, dark, and relaxing.
- Heavy studying, text messaging, and video games should end several hours before bed.

Student Pick Up and Drop Off Locations
|
In the morning, student drop off will be along Sampson Street where students will be able to enter through the gate and main entrance.
Please drop your child off on the school side of the street so they do not have to cross through traffic.
In the afternoon, car pick up is along Jefferson Street only. Students must exit out the end of the sophomore hallway and meet their vehicle on Jefferson Steet. Students will not be allowed to cross Sampson Street to meet vehicles.

Visitor and Parent Parking
|
Parking for parents and visitors to our campus is parallel parking on Sampson Street. The only entrance for visitors and parents is our main entrance on Sampson Street. In order to meet safety and security needs all other doors will be locked. |
Energy's official ADA time this year is
10:10 AM. Please schedule your child's appointments so that he or she is back to school by 10:10 AM or leaves after 10:10 AM. We receive our funding based on attendance at this time. Funding allows us to provide more for your child! |

Students in Ms. Finberg's AP Environmental Science class work on a Ecosystem column lab project. This lab provided an opportunity to explore several types of ecosystems, the components within each ecosystem, the conditions required for the sustainability, and the interconnections between the various chambers composing the column. |
Energy Shirts
The new Energy Institute Polo shirts are required this year. The polos must be worn on all field trips and off-campus events. The black IPAA polos are being replaced with the Energy polos for field trip attire. If you have not yet ordered one, please do so as soon as possible, students will be required to wear the polo on their next field trip. ORDER TODAY!

PSAT
This Wednesday all students will be taking the PSAT. The test will begin by 8:30am. Late students will not be allowed to sit for the test. Please make sure all students get a good night's sleep and eat breakfast. The test will be approximately three hours long, without any breaks or interruptions. If possible, please bring a calculator with you Wednesday. We will not be able to provide every student with a calculator. Calculators that connect to the internet or other devices connected to the internet will be turned in prior to the test and returned at the conclusion of the test.
Energy Day
Our first field trip and volunteering opportunity will be Saturday, October 17th at the city of Houston's Energy Day. We will be able to take two buses of students. The event will be from 9am - 2pm. For more information please see Mr. Flores.

Interested in attending Energy next year or know someone who is? We will be hosting Magnet Tours every Thursday at 1pm starting October 8th - December 3rd. Stop by and join us to learn about all the exciting things happening in our classrooms.
Can't make a tour - no problem! We will also be hosting an evening Magnet Open House for prospective students and their families Thursday, November 19th at 6pm. Energy Annual Haunted House |
It is about time for the Energy Haunted House! Come join the students of Energy and support our local Woods Club and Ladies of EIHS organizations. These two clubs are joining forces to host the best Haunted House Energy has had to date! The Haunted House will be open Friday, October 30th to all students. Tickets will be for sale during lunch starting October 19th.

 Last Thursday we announced our partnership with DiscoverU at the 11th Grade Parent Meeting. We are very excited to be working with this DiscoverU to actively connect all of our students with Fantastic Learning Opportunities. Baylor College of Medicine "Saturday Morning Science" applications are now available. All ninth through eleventh grade students are invited to apply for the 10 week program that introduces students to careers in medicine and bioscience research.
