Last week, cohort teams and classes across campus developed Social Contracts outlining the characteristics and behaviors they will hold themselves and eachother to as part of their classroom culture. Students collaborated to create these lists and are now responsible for self monitoring and supporting each other in making good decisions and being a responsible team member!
Beginning of the Year Updates
Student ID cards:  All students should now have their ID card.  If a student did not have their photo taken or did not receive their ID card they need to report to the office in the morning for a temporary ID. Students who forget their ID will also need to report to the main office and purchase a temporary ID for $1.

Schedule Change Requests:  Students interested in changing their schedule must complete the Schedule Change Request Form. If students are requesting a change in the course level a parent signature is required.  Please turn in the completed Schedule Change Request form to your dean by Thursday, September 3rd.

Laptop Distribution: Student laptops should be distributed to all students by the end of the week. If you have not received your laptop by Thursday, please see your dean. To pay online CLICK HERE!

Bus Route Change Request:  In order to request a bus route change you must submit the attached Bus Request Change Form to the Attendance Office.

Dress Code:  Students are required to follow Dress Code policy on a daily basis.  Please see the 2015-2016 Dress Code Policy for dress code specifics and dress code violation consequences.

First Day Packets:  Paperwork from the first day packets was due last Friday.  If you have not completed the paperwork, please do so as soon as possible.  It is extremely important that every student has up-to-date information on record.  You can pick up additional forms in the main office.
Student Pick Up and Drop Off Locations
Parents, we need your help and support in keeping our students safe during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.  As we grow, our traffic has increased.  Please follow the morning and afternoon procedures listed below.

In the mornings, student drop off will be along Sampson Street where students will be able to enter through the gate and main entrance. Please drop your child off on the school side of the street so they do not have to cross through traffic.

In the afternoons, car pick up is along Jefferson Street only. Students must exit out the end of the sophomore hallway and meet their vehicle on Jefferson Steet.  Students will not be allowed to cross Sampson Street to meet vehicles.
Open House
Mark your calendar!  Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 17th at 6pm.  You will have an opportunity to meet all of your child's teachers and the administrative team at Energy. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend so please save the date now! Please plan on arriving between 5:30 -5:45 in order to pick up your student's schedule.

Energy Booster PTO will be available for their Annual PTO Membership Drive, as well as DiscoverU a new organization pairing students with Fantastic Learning Opportunities throughout the school year and next summer.

OUR GOAL IS 100% PARENT PARTICIPATION!
Meet our New Staff Members
We are very excited to introduce our new Physical Education teacher, Ms. Marlene Watts!

Ms. Watts joins us from Gregory Lincoln Education Center, where she taught P.E. and dance courses.  She attended New York University where she received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from the Tisch School of Arts.  After graduation, Marlene returned to Houston and began her teaching career.  Ms. Watts will be teaching Fitness One, Fitness Two, and Health this year.  Her goal for students is to leave her class with the motivation to eat better and exercise regularly because they will understand how diet and exercise are a lifestyle change that can prevent so many diseases and health complications.

In her spare time Ms. Watts stays very active!  She is currently training to complete the BP MS 150 this spring.  She loves chocolate, seafood, and spending time with her fur babies!

Ms. Watts will also be sharing a weekly health tip in the newsletter and on our daily announcements.  Check them out each week for a quick and easy lifestyle tip!

If you see Ms. Watts in the hallway, be sure to welcome her to our Energy family and introduce yourself!
Health Tip of the Week

Check this section weekly for a health tip from our new P.E. teacher Ms. Watts.

Eating apples can actually cleanse and brighten your teeth, due to their mildly acidic nature.  And you know what they say, "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away!"
