Energy would like to thank IPAA/PESA for all of their support! For those parents who don't know, IPAA/PESA is one of our major supporters. They work very hard to secure of funding, plan guest speakers, and plan our field trips. So a huge thank you to IPAA/PESA for their unending support!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Our Student Spotlight this week goes to 9th grade student, Jason Ortiz. Jason was nominated by Mrs. Alexander for his positive and hardworking nature.  "Jason always has a smile on his face.  He is respected by his classmates and is always willing to help other students.  He is hardworking, respectful, motivated and responsible."  Our student writer, Fernanda, sat down with Jason to discuss his nomination and learn more about his experiences at Energy.  He told Fernanda that the best part of Energy is project based learning. "I feel like I learn a lot from it. I originally want to come to the Energy Institute because I was interested in technology.  Now I know that I want to go to Rice University and become an Aerospace Engineer."  Thank you for being a model student Jason!  Keep up the great work!

Soccer Club

Last week our Energy Soccer Club played their first game at Mason Park. We played against a more experienced team of Juniors from the Law Enforcement Academy. Energy lost the game (5-1) but our team played very well. Jorge Ramirez made school history scoring our first ever Energy goal!  With more practice and experience, Energy will become one of the best teams out there! Mr. Menelas would like to  thank all the teachers who helped make this event happen, especially Mr. Tate, Ms. Lockhart, Ms.Cabrera and  Mr. Cius.

Energy is so proud of the dedication the Soccer club has shown and we are especially thankful for Mr. Menelas who has devoted countless hours working with students and organizing this opportunity for Energy students!
