In our Principles of Engineering classes this week students are using the VEX robotics kits as part of their Project Lead the Way curriculum to create robots that can serve three functions in industry. Students are learning how robots are utilized in many different sectors including offshore technology, geology, agriculture, and many others! |
Our Student Spotlight this week features 9th grade student Michelle Coto, who was nominated by Mr. Menelas for her outstanding work in his French class. "Michelle is the perfect student. She takes notes, ask questions and helps her fellow students in French class. Michelle volunteers to help make sure her neighbors notes are always adequate. Her projects are always very interesting to see. Michelle also came up with the idea of building a website for the French classes at Energy. She learned how to make websites in another class and can't wait to take on this new challenge." Michelle's initiative and drive are wonderful examples of how to be a student leader on campus. Keep up the great work and thank you for representing Energy so well!

We are very proud of our 10th grade students who represented Energy at The Department of Energy Science Bowl hosted by Texas A&M this past Saturday. Energy was the only HISD school represented in the competition which consisted of 30 schools from across Texas. Our students held there own in the competition which consisted of mostly 12th grade students! We can't wait to see how you guys do next year! A big thank you to our Chemistry teachers Mr. Diosomito and Ms. Lockhart for organizing and chaperoning this experience for our kids! |

Students in French 1 immersed themselves in French culture last week. As part of their PBL students had to model a French dining experience. Students filmed their conversation; they ordered food, beverages, dessert then talked about the French eating habits. For this project, students designed their restaurant menu with French foods of their choice. |
