Students in 10th grade IPC classes are designing and building their prototypes for their upcoming Egg Car Competition! The competition consists of designing a self propelling car that will protect their egg from breaking. Good luck to all of our teams! |

Reno Vaca is a sophomore at Energy Institute and is nominated this week for his exceptional hard work and great attitude. Reno works as an office worker for one of his class periods and is a great addition to our office team. He is a smiling face in the mornings and is always willing to lend a hand. The administrative team at Energy is very thankful for all of his help this year and especially grateful for his willingness to pitch in wherever he can. Reno is often tasked with mission impossible responsibilities from the administrative team and has successfully completed every mission! Reno is a talented multi-tasker who helps file paperwork, delivers essential documents to staff and students, pitches in at the reception desk, and provides technology assistance. Mr. Mathis, his 9th grade Geometry teacher commented that, "Reno has a quiet confidence and possesses an advanced ability to think through complex problems. He is a great student both in and out of the classroom." Thank you for your hard work and dedication Reno! We are proud to call you an Energy student!

BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA |
Outstanding Business Students Travel to Dallas to Participate
at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference
Top students from Energy Institute High School will be attending the Business Professionals of America 2015 State Leadership Conference, in Dallas, Texas, March 4-7, 2015.
Energy Institute chapter members, Shawheen Attar, Chance Bednorz, Nataly Escamilla, Gerardo Escobedo, Amber Farias and Abigail Parakoy will join over 2,700 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions, and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections. Besides having the opportunity to excel, they'll experience Dallas as they visit the city's exciting sites.
"Students from the Texas Association's Regional Leadership Conference have qualified to participate at the state level conference. The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Energy Institute have received," said chapter advisor, Raul Alanis, who teaches Principles of Engineering.
Business Professionals of America is a national organization for middle school, high school, and college students preparing for careers in business and office occupations. The organization's activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school. Business Professionals of America acts as a cohesive agent in the nationwide networking of education and business and industry, and is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
A huge THANK YOU to our teacher sponsor Mr. Alanis for spending countless hours preparing our students for this event and for bringing this organization to our campus!

NATIONAL EDTECH CONFERENCE |

We are so proud of our Biology teacher, Ms. Jillian Estrella, for representing Energy at The National EdTech Conference in Orlando, Florida. Educators, administrators and technologists from all 50 states and more than 40 countries came together to explore and exchange techniques focused on integrating current and emerging technology into the classroom. Ms. Estrella had the honor of presenting to a group of fellow educators about the PBL process that we use at Energy. She also joined Principal Lambropoulos on the discussion panel where they spoke about our experiences with the district wide PowerUp 1:1 initiative. With over 47,000 laptops being used for this program across the district, Energy was the first school to participate in the initiative. Ms. Estrella and Ms. Lambropoulos spoke about our experiences and successes with such an innovative initiative. Congratulations on a job well done! |

Networking starts now! 9th grade students were invited to attend a small group "Lunch Box Talk" with our guest speaker Mr. James Prescott who is currently the Vice President of Marketing at ShawCor Flexpipe. Mr. Prescott shared his experiences majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M and how he ended up in his current position. It was a great discussion that our students found extremely insightful. We are so appreciative of our guest speakers for putting a face and a story behind job titles and for getting our students excited about their futures! |
