9th grade students in Ms. Gianukos and Ms. Ratliff's English 1 and World Geography class completed a PBL on Animal Farm and Political Systems last week by participating in a Socratic Seminar in which students were tasked with developing the 7 commandments for their new political system.  Pictured above are student developed propaganda posters supporting their political system.  Great work to all the students who participated in this PBL.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Jo'Jauni Monges Cooper is a 10th grade student at Energy and was nominated for Student Spotlight by his English teacher Ms. Blake.  "Jo'juani is a gem. He tries to work diligently on all of his assignments. Sometimes he gets confused and turns things in late, but when he does, he never makes excuses. He thanks me for holding him to high standards! That's maturity. He is very thoughtful. He asks how Mr. Tate and I are every day when he comes into class." Jo'Jauni was so honored by Ms. Blake's nomination and commented that he believes that his work ethics come from his belief that the more you put into something, the brighter your future may be and the more opportunities you will have.  That is exactly why Jo'Jauni chose to come to Energy.  "I was really interested in this school because I thought it would expose me to a lot of different opportunities such as PBL.  PBL has taught me collaboration which I will use in any field I enter after college."  Jo'Jauni wants to be an aerospace engineer and enjoys spending his free time working on musical projects and playing the flute.  Keep up your hard work Jo'Jauni it definitely has not gone unnoticed!
