Energy's official ADA time this year is
10:00 AM. Please schedule your child's appointments so that he or she is back to school by 10:00 AM or leaves after 10:00 AM. We receive our funding based on attendance at this time. Funding allows us to provide more for your child! |
Energy would like to thank IPAA/PESA for all of their support! For those parents who don't know, IPAA/PESA is one of our major supporters. They work very hard to secure of funding, plan guest speakers, and plan our field trips. So a huge thank you to IPAA/PESA for their unending support!

Thank you for making our Holiday so BRIGHT!

We would like to thank all of the students, parents, and teachers who helped to make our holiday season special at Energy! Students from the TESLA Club hosted a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Dean MacGregor organized a holiday gift giving for our teachers that was so generously supported by our wonderful parents, and Ms. DeLaRosa organized a Holiday Jam session for students with the help of Mr. Lamb, Mr. Flores, Mr. Tate, and Mr. Cavazos.
We truly appreciate our amazing Energy family!

Tune in to hear from our very own as they share with Houston the exciting things happening at Energy!

The guest speaker schedule has been confirmed for the rest of the school year. The first Wednesday of each month 9th grade students will participate in the Speaker Series and the second Wednesday of every month the 10th grade students will participate in the Speaker Series. Each Guest Speaker session is followed by a smaller informative "Lunch Box Talk" of approximately 20 students who participated and were engaged throughout the Speaker Session. These are great opportunities to practice networking and to learn more about opportunities available in the Energy Industry.
In order to put our best foot forward for our guest speakers please remember that students are expected to dress professionally on Guest Speaker days.

Students will report to their Sync class tomorrow morning to receive a copy of their second semester schedule. Students will attend class periods 1 through 6 tomorrow. If a student has schedule concerns they must submit a Schedule Change Request Form to their Dean by
Tuesday, January 13th. You can access the form through the link above or pick up a copy in the main office.

10th Grade Field Trip to Eaton |
This Friday, January 9th, 10th grade students will be participating in their first grade level IPAA sponsored field trip of the year. Students will be traveling to visit Eaton, an engineering facility outside of Houston. Students can bring a sack lunch or pick one up from the cafeteria prior to leaving campus. Field trip dress code will consist of the IPAA/Energy Institute school polo, khaki pants, and closed toe shoes. If you are a new student to Energy and did not receive a polo shirt please see Mr. Flores.
Parents, if you are interested in volunteering to chaperone the trip, please contact Rene Flores as soon as possible at rflore19@houstonisd.org.

Over the holiday break we experienced an issue with the hot water pipe above the kitchen. The HISD maintenance team has been working to complete repairs for our students return. Our kitchen will be providing sack breakfast and lunch tomorrow Tuesday, January 6th. As always students will have access to microwaves in the cafeteria if they choose to bring breakfast or lunch tomorrow. Kitchen repairs should be complete by tomorrow afternoon and we will return to a full breakfast/lunch menu Wednesday.

The Energy High Recycling Club will be collecting gently worn jeans without holes in them starting this Thursday, January 8th. Energy will be participating in the nationwide "Teens for Jeans" awareness and collection drive. The collected jeans will be donated to a local shelter for youth who do not have jeans to wear during the cold winter months. Our student goal this year is to collect 300 or more pairs of jeans, beating our collection from last year of 130 pairs of jeans. Our school donation numbers will be entered into the national competition allowing us to earn prizes for Energy! Get a jump start on spring cleaning and donate now! Be sure to share with your neighbors, family, and coworkers. |
