Energy would like to thank IPAA/PESA for all of their support! For those parents who don't know, IPAA/PESA is one of our major supporters. They work very hard to secure of funding, plan guest speakers, and plan our field trips. So a huge thank you to IPAA/PESA for their unending support!

EXEMPLARY ENERGY STUDENT

Meet 9th grade student Aimee Sampayan!  Aimee was nominated for the Student Spotlight this week by her World Geography teacher Ms. Ratliff. Ms. Ratliff recommended Aimee by stating, "She is a great student.  She always pays attention and has a great attitude in class."  This is Aimee's first year in Houston.  Her family moved from Las Vegas in June and her parents found the Energy Institute.  Aimee says she loves math and was so excited her parents found Energy.  She really loves Project Based Learning because it is so different from how she is used to learning.  "It is definitely an adjustment, but it has been a great challenge.  I am learning to work in a group.  It is getting a lot easier."  Even though starting 9th grade at a new school and in a new city has been quite an adjustment on its own, she said that, "everyone has been so friendly. The teachers are really dedicated and supportive."  Her favorite project so far this year has been a video she made for her English I and World Geography class, where she created a stop motion video illustrating a story.  We are very proud of the hard work Aimee is doing and are very glad she is part of our Energy community.  Keep up the hard work!
TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

Meet Mr. Brad Neidecker, part of our dynamic math team at
Energy teaching geometry and Algebra I.  Mr Neidecker is originally from Arkansas earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas and continuing education courses at Rice Unviersity, Texas A&M, and the University of South Carolina.  He has spent over 30 years in the classroom teaching math, science, and technology, in schools throughout Houston and abroad as well in Aruba, Brazil, Chile, and Jordan.  He came to Energy because he thought it would be interesting to work at a start-up school that emphasized science, technology, and math. We are thrilled to have Mr. Neidecker at Energy!
