Visitor and Parent Parking |
Parking for parents and visitors to our campus is parallel parking on Sampson Street. The only entrance for visitors and parents is our main entrance on Sampson Street. In order to meet safety and security needs all other doors will be locked. |
Class begins promptly at 9:15 on late start Wednesdays. Students are considered tardy if they are not in class by 9:15. |
Energy's official ADA time this year is
10:00 AM. Please schedule your child's appointments so that he or she is back to school by 10:00 AM or leaves after 10:00 AM. We receive our funding based on attendance at this time. Funding allows us to provide more for your child! |
Energy would like to thank IPAA/PESA for all of their support! For those parents who don't know, IPAA/PESA is one of our major supporters. They work very hard to secure of funding, plan guest speakers, and plan our field trips. So a huge thank you to IPAA/PESA for their unending support!

CHEMISTRY CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION |
Chemistry students are hard at work analyzing their samples using their knowledge of properties of matter. Students are using magnets to identify metallic mixtures, acids to determine reactivity and viscosity tubes to test the substances' resistance to flow. Students are also extending their understanding of density by calculating the density of various samples found at the crime scene. Preliminary results are pointing towards our Dean of Instruction or our Special Education Coordinator! Yikes! |

Meet Ms. Lisa Gianukos! Lisa Gianukos is our 9th grade English teacher. She grew up all around the world, mostly in the Middle East.
Ms. Gianukos attended Rice University and is joining us from the Law Enforcement High School. Lisa was drawn to energy because of our project based learning focus and the integration of technology in the classroom. "I am most looking forward to seeing the amazing final projects students are able to complete!" Be sure to meet Ms. Gianukos at Open House on Wednesday evening.

Last week, 10th grade students had a great discussion with Mr. Paul Niznik of Hart Energy. Mr. Niznik brought biofuels and invited students to participate in a highly interactive and engaging presentation. Energy students had a blast! Thank you so much Mr. Niznik for your time!

Our Project Advisory Team has been working hard to share ideas, opinions, and hopes for the new building! It has been an amazing process working with students, parents, teachers, HISD leaders, community members, and the architects of VLK Architects.
Check out some of the preliminary sketches architects worked on while our team shared their ideas for the building! Our next PAT meeting is Tuesday, September 16th at 3:00 in the Teacher Conference Room.
