The schedule change deadline is Friday, September 5. If your child would like to make any adjustments to his or her schedule, please make sure you sign the form and return it by that date. We are not able to honor all schedule change requests, but try to accomodate all reasonable requests. The form should be turned in to the box in the main office. |
Mark Your Calendar for Open House
|
The Energy Open House will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 6:00 PM. During the evening you will walk in your child's shoes and experience what a "day in the life" of an Energy student is. You will get to meet all of your child's teachers. It's a great way to put a face with a name, find out what your child will be learning this year, and how to best help your child succeed! We hope to have a packed house! |
First Day Packets Due Friday
|
Please turn any remaining paperwork from the first day packets in to the office as soon as possible. |
Energy's official ADA time this year is
10:00 AM. Please schedule your child's appointments so that he or she is back to school by 10:00 AM or leaves after 10:00 AM. We receive our funding based on attendance at this time. Funding allows us to provide more for your child! |
Energy would like to thank IPAA/PESA for all of their support! For those parents who don't know, IPAA/PESA is one of our major supporters. They work very hard to secure of funding, plan guest speakers, and plan our field trips. So a huge thank you to IPAA/PESA for their unending support!

Michael in the UH Downtown labs working on samples he collected from Buffalo, White Oak, and Braes Bayous
Sophomore Michael Osueke took a week out of his summer to work side by side with PhD scientists and high school teachers from all over the Houston area to study the wetlands that surround Houston. Michael assisted Professors in their areas of research such as environmental science, microbiology, and environmental sensor chemistry to research how the urban watershed health impacts ocean health. He spent his days out on site collecting samples, in labs working with teachers, analyzing data, and learning more about college and career options in STEM fields. Upon conclusion of the program Michael received a scholarship to attend UH Downtown upon his completion of high school. "Ms. Estrella really encouraged me to attend the camp. I really liked how we got to work side by side with teachers and professionals in the field. I got to see how teachers think and learned a lot. And I got paid!" |
Mr. Diosomito has taught physics, chemistry and engineering at high schools in Cy Fair, KIPP Houston, and The High School for Engineering Professions. As the integrated physics and chemistry teacher at Energy, Mr. Diosomito is excited about the opportunity to create rigorous yet engaging physical science PBL activities and promote STEM through academic and research competitions.
Mr. Diosomito is featured in the book The American Teacher: Heroes in the Classroom. The book highlighted Mr. Diosomito's achievements saying, "Marlo Diosomito's life is a lesson in humility and a testament to the power of a great education. Raised in poverty in the southern Philippines, Diosomito claimed authorship of his destiny from a very young age, eventually graduating from his country's most rigorous university and becoming an award-winning teacher of the sciences."
We are thrilled to have Mr. Diosomito join our amazing Energy staff this year! |
Students will be receiving their laptops in their engineering classes on Thursday and Friday. Students must turn in the forms, complete a Cyber Safety unit (during the Engineering class), and pay the $25 fee before receiving a laptop. The money will be collected during lunch in the cafeteria daily. Please turn money in as soon as possible. |
Schedule for Tuesday
Due to the holiday on Monday, we will have an adjusted bell schedule on Tuesday.
Transportation Concerns
Thank you for your patience as we have been experiencing a number of late buses and transportation issues. Please email
