Extraordinary Synod on the Family 2014 - Survey
An Introduction to the Community of St. Ignatius - Baltimore

From Father Watters

Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Faith:

In last week's Watters' Edge, I wrote about Pope Francis and his desire to hear from Catholics, worldwide, what they think about issues that are impacting family life. Never, in the history of the Church, has there been opportunity for Catholics around the globe to express their views and beliefs and to 'join the conversation'.

To that end the Vatican has designed a survey and is requesting that all Catholics (active or inactive) respond. We are providing you with the opportunity to do that by sending you the link to the survey (see below). The results of the survey are due at the Vatican on December 31, 2013. In order to accomplish this the Archdiocese has set a deadline of midnight on December 15 for filling out the questionnaire. If you prefer to fill out a paper survey we will have them available at all Masses between now and Sunday, December 15. As the survey is somewhat lengthy, you will want to set some time aside in your schedule.

Finally, we have determined that everyone should have an opportunity to speak publicly about his/her responses to the Vatican's questions. Thus, we are planning to hold a series of forums after each Mass on the weekend of December 7th-8th. At each forum there will be a facilitator and a recorder to conduct an oral survey. The results of those gatherings will also be sent to the Archdiocese to be included in its report to the Vatican. As we care about your thoughts and voice, all are invited to come.

Yours in Christ,

Watter Signature
