The "Watter's Edge"

Welcome to the first edition of the St. Ignatius weekly E-zine. We are calling our publication "Parish: The Thought". A little play on words, but the concept is that each week you will receive an emailing with the week's current  'thought' or focus within our parish. It is our desire to better inform and communicate about events, themes and directions. In each weekly edition we will include inspirational and devotional opportunities, as well as links to important videos, teachings, and highlights of what is happening globally that should capture our hearts and attention. It's our hope and determination to help all learn how to grow in Christ, and to learn how to serve Him with their whole lives. As the scripture above says:

"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." -That's our goal.

I want to tell you personally that the email address you have given us will never be given out, or seen by anybody else who receives this publication. At any time you wish,  you are free to unsubscribe by simply clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this page.

Finally, please feel free to share this publication on your social networks, by clicking the appropriate icon above.

Here's to our growth in communication, our growth in Him, and growth our growth as His church.

With much gratitude to you, I remain in our mutual service to Christ,

Pope Calls For Prayer and Fasting Over Syria Situation
Pope Francis

You may have heard that on Sunday, Pope Francis condemned the use of chemical weapons, but he called for a negotiated settlement of the civil war in Syria. He further announced he would lead a worldwide day of fasting and prayer for peace in this country on Saturday, September 7th. Click here for entire coverage on the Pope's announcement.

In keeping with this request, we would encourage you to consider fasting and prayer next Saturday as many of us will. If you would like a 'starter' on fasting, we've included a primer on "Fasting and Prayer For Dummies" -  click here to view. There is a particularly meaningful passage in Isaiah 58 that speaks to the kind of attitudes and fasting that moves the heart of God. For some helpful commentary on this passage click here. We also would ask you to consider coming to our 12:10 Mass on Saturday, where we will lift up prayers regarding any potential intervention in Syria. At this Mass there will also be a time of anointing for the sick. God bless you as you prayerfully consider your involvement.

We'd like to introduce you to....

Many Thanks For Your Generosity!

Many thanks to the large number of parishioners who brought bags filled with pencils, pens, notebooks, pads, etc. for the children at SS. James and John Elementary School in East Baltimore. Your gift will make a real difference in the lives and education of a significant number of students this next year. This is a practical living out of the Gospel!
