Home Delivered Meals to Include Falls Prevention Message

In coming weeks, home-delivered meals will be packed with a flier listing tips that older adults can take to prevent falls. The effort is part of STEADY U Ohio, a statewide initiative to reduce falls. Council on Aging is one of many Steady U Partners.

According to the Ohio Department of Aging, falls-related injuries among older adults lead to an emergency room visit every 7.5 minutes and three deaths a day.

In addition to helping educate seniors, the fliers will alert staff and volunteers who deliver the meals to be on the lookout for fall hazards in their clients' homes, such as throw rugs and electric cords in hallways.
