Register Today for 2014 Forum on Aging
Registration is now open for Council on Aging's 2014 Forum on Aging and Annual Meeting, presented by Helping Hands Healthcare, March 4-5 at the Sharonville Convention Center.  Social Workers, Nursing Home Administrators, Nurses and Activity Professionals can earn up to 10 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at the conference. The event features nationally respected keynote speakers and educational workshops with today's professionals in mind. Click here for information about the conference and registration.
Days left to nominate someone who works to make life better for older adults

Council on Aging will accept nominations for its 2014 Annual Awards until Wednesday, January 15. The awards recognize caregivers, volunteers and professionals in the field of aging who work to make life better for older adults. 

Award categories include:
  • Outstanding Professional in Aging
  • Outstanding Direct Service Provider
  • Outstanding Caregiver 
Winners will be honored on day-two of Forum on Aging at COA`s Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, March 5 at the Sharonville Convention Center. The meeting will include a buffet lunch, a brief overview of COA`s 2013 Annual Report from CEO Suzanne Burke, and the awards ceremony.

Get free help with taxes

In cooperation with the IRS, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program helps low- to moderate-income taxpayers by assisting with tax services and ensuring they receive applicable tax credits and deductions. The program is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older. Click here for more information and to find a location near you.

New website highlights mental health resources
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has launched www.mentalhealth.gov, a new website featuring easy-to-understand information about basic signs of mental health problems, how to talk about mental health and how to find help.
