The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has already invited Expression of Interest for selecting appropriate energy storage demonstration projects for renewable integration.India is also working on ambitious target of building 100 Smart Cities with key technical collaboration from US, Germany, UK, Japan and Korea as well as has launched FAME India Initiative (under National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020) with target of 10 Million EV / HEVs on road by 2020. Apart from this, India needs solutions for providing energy access to over 300 million people currently without access to electricity. Leaders in the Indian industry are looking for strategic partnerships with suitable energy storage technology providers to start manufacturing of advanced storage technologies in India under "Make in India" campaign.
