Lake County Reports on Strategic Plan
Lake County's Strategic plan identifies five strategic goals related to transportation, sustainability, healthy communities, economic opportunities and public safety. Residents asked for more communication and transparency about what Lake County is doing with their tax dollars.

Visit our Strategic Plan page to see examples of how we are making progress toward our strategic goals.

Cost of Healthcare for Lake County Gov.
Finance Committee makes recommendation to Board
Currently we are discussing our 2015 budget for Lake County. Health Insurance costs for Lake County employees are projected to increase over 5% in next year to about $38 million with program changes and increased premiums for our employees. As health insurance costs have risen 30% over the past 5 years for our employees, the committee is working on ways to promote good health and fiscal responsibility. We would like our current PPO employees to move to a consumer driven PPO and will be pricing plans to facilitate that transition. If we can move those PPO employees (51% of workforce) it is projected to save us in excess of $2 million per year. As we discuss a fair compensation package for our employees (salary, health benefits, and pension) it is important to always keep in mind fairness to our citizens and taxpayers as well.
Help Shape the Future of Lake County's Housing and Community Development
Lake County government needs your input! Help us prioritize the use of federal grant funds for housing and community development activities over the next five years. Take this survey (available in English or Spanish) to assess affordable housing, neighborhood conditions, access to parks, job training programs and other needs of low- and moderate-income individuals and households. Results of the survey will be presented to the Lake County Board in the fall.
