Deerfield joins ranks with HP and HWD with Commercial Waste Franchise
Saving money and promoting environment.
I am thrilled to see Deerfield and Bannockburn move forward with a commercial franchise agreement that will save money, promote no cost recycling, and put compressed natural gas trucks on the street. Deerfield FAQ Sheet.
While working on the first commercial franchise in Lake County as a Councilman in Highland Park we were able to over double recycling participation and drastically increase recyclable collection, reducing landfill consumption. Now, we need to all push harder on educating people on these great recycling and composting opportunities. Pass the word!

Exhibition showcases art of nature illustrator Charley Harper

Experience the whimsical world of popular nature illustrator and artist Charley Harper (1922-2007) at Beguiled by the Wild: The Art of Charley Harper exhibition on display through February 16 at the Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda.

New this month, Harper's largest serigraphic print "Water Striders" will be on display. This never-before-exhibited print, provided by a Lake County private collection, measures 19 inches by 45 inches and is drawn from one of Harper's earliest observations of nature as a young boy on his family's Ohio farm. These observations would later influence the artistic style for which he is known. The print joins over 20 other serigraphs and illustrations highlighting Harper's signature "realistic minimalism" style of portraying natural elements and wildlife.

This national touring exhibition is organized by the Virginia Living Museum, and generously supported by the Friends of the Lake County Discovery Museum and Media Sponsor The Daily Herald. Call 847-968-3400 or visit online at LCFPD.org/CharleyHarper for more information about the exhibit or to download discount admission coupons.
