One Year On the Job
As your County Board Member and Forest Preserve Commish.

mandel I am pleased to report that I am impressed with the professionalism and teamwork from both my fellow elected folks and our staff. We have set goals for efficiency and cooperation throughout Lake County. This includes shared services, purchases, and operations within our departments and together with other governments to reduce costs for providing services to our citizens.

 

On the environmental front we will be hiring a sustainability coordinator during the first quarter to work directly with our administrator on improving our environmental consciousness and culture.

 

I continue to look for opportunities for additional Lake County funding for services and capital in Highland Park, Highwood, and Deerfield.

 

All and all it has been a good start and look forward to getting more traction in 2014 on issues important to you. Please keep in touch and let me know your thoughts.

Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan Open House
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) invites you to an open house informational meeting to see exhibits, displays and to meet LCDOT staff and consultants that will discuss the proposed plan and answer questions. The Lake County Year 2040 Transportation Plan will serve as the blueprint for transportation improvements for Lake County for the next two decades. The plan also includes bicycle and transit components.

Hastings Lake Forest Preserve Open
The highly anticipated reopening of Hastings Lake Forest Preserve in Lake Villa is complete, following extensive public access improvements and restoration of natural areas within the 270-acre preserve.

The preserve's main entrance is located on Gelden Rd. southwest of Grass Lake Rd. in Lake Villa. A second entrance is located on Munn Rd. north of Grand Ave. (Route 132). Hastings Lake is open daily from 6:30 a.m. - sunset, unless otherwise posted.
A trail connection to Grass Lake Road on the east side of the lake is also available. Download trail map
