Lake County Files Lawsuit to Protect Voters' Right to Choose Who Administers Elections
 Lawsuit Challenges Unconstitutionality of New Law and Seeks Injunction to Stop Creation of Elections Commission
We filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the provision in House Bill 2418, now Public Act 98-0115, that removes the authority of the county clerk to administer elections and establishes an elections commission without a voter referendum - in Lake County only. So, if we are not successful getting this stopped in court, HB2418 mandates Chief Judge Forman needs to appoint an Election Commission by the end of August. If you are willing to serve on this commission to administer our Lake County elections please go to this link for information and the application. Chief Judge Foreman is requesting all applications be in by August 16th.

 IDOT statistics show 15 percent of drunk driving fatalities involve drunk motorcycle riders, but only three percent of registered vehicles in Illinois are motorcycles Officials ask riders to wear safety gear--especially a helmet. Law enforcement agencies plan to be out in full force to crack down on impaired drivers.

 The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) is holding collection events for electronic waste (e-waste) around Lake County. Proper disposal of items such as computer equipment, digital equipment, microwave ovens, and batteries is important because of potential hazardous waste within them. Protect your community by bringing your unwanted electronic items to these collection events.

Independence Grove Dog Exercise Area Closed through November for Improvements
For more information on Independence Grove click here Lake County Forest Preserves offers several Dog Exercise areas, where dogs are allowed to run off of their leashes. These areas are fenced in, and provide a safe environment for dogs and their owners. In order to use these parks safely, there are certain requirements.
