Girls' Volleyball


At Peninsula, Peninsula defeated Palos Verdes 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-20, 25-19) to finish the regular season 14-10 overall (6-4 in Bay League). The win clinches 3rd place in Bay League for the Panthers and an automatic CIF Division 1AA playoff bid, their fourth straight CIF playoff appearance.  CIF seeding and match ups will be determined this Friday.

XC
Peninsula girls xc team finished off the season on our home course on Thursday, November 5th.  This course is known as one of the toughest in Southern California being compared only to Mt Sac!!  Seniors Lexi Bakos, Talia Baddour and Rebecca Kan ran their last xc race capping off a great senior season!!  Way to go Panthers and great job getting faster as the season progressed!!

At the final race of the season on our home course, the Boys Varsity Cross Country team ran an exceptional race finishing in fourth place in the highly competitive Bay League.  The Panthers were led by Junior Yodai Takeuchi finishing with a time of 17:46, followed by Aaron Reider (17:53), Abagaaz Sherfa (17:56), Kade Wong (18:05), Henry Bell Wilson (18:08), and Davis Quan (18:09).
 
The highlight of the season was the Varsity team's First Place finish at Mt. SAC.  Looking forward to next year!  Go Panthers XC!

Girls Golf
Nicole Suppelsa shot 74 on Thursday in the Southern Section Individual Final and advanced to the Southern California Regional Tournament on Thursday, November 12 at Goose Creek GC.  Her score of 4-over par tied her for 8th place in a field of 72 of the best golfers in the Southern Section. A good finish next week lands her in the State Championship!

Girls Tennis
CIF 1st round our Lady Panthers go 6-0 in the third round to defeat Notre Dame  13-5.  Today Pen takes on Villa Park in round 2 at Peninsula.















Surf
 On this beautiful, sunny and crisp morning in Manhattan Beach, Peninsula Surf Team did an outstanding job beating Torrance with a final score of 87 - 64!  In their respective Men's Shortboard heats, Cole Yoshida and Adam Lazarus came in 1st, Nigel Lipps came in 2nd, and Will Allen, Matt Amano and Ryan Cortez came in 3rd. In Women's Shortboard, Skye Perranoski came in 2nd and Isabel Frandsen 3rd.  In Men's Longboard, Cole Yoshida earned 1st and Adam Lazarus 2nd.  In Women's Longboard, Rebecca Mu 1st and Isabel Frandsen 3rd.  In Body Board, Natalia Achatz came in 2nd and Patrick Woodland 3rd.   Way to go, Panthers!

In the final game of the season, in front of a packed house, our boys showed grit, determination and the will to win.  Our Panthers defeated Inglewood 46-32 and in doing so, restored our faith that football will return to glory in the years to come. 

Now that the season is over, Peninsula has begun putting in place actions that will help to stimulate growth and support.
 
Tuesday Athletic Director Wendel Yoshida and Associate Principal Michael Wanmer attended a conference meeting to discuss the idea of re-leaguing.  Many great ideas and suggestions came from the meeting.  The next meeting will take place in early December, the topic will be competitiveness for all schools.

This Thursday Principal Mitzi Cress and Associate Principals Micah Farrell and Michael Wanmer met with former Panther and CAL great Todd Huber.  During the meeting a half day combine football camp was proposed.  This camp will feature past and present athletes and will be followed by a parent question and answer session.

Boys Water Polo

In the final week of the season our boys fought hard, losing Tuesday to P.V. 8-12 and winning Thursday 18-10 against West.  In the P.V. game senior Brandon Nelson scored three goals while freshman "pollywog" Cole Allyn added two.  Yousef El-Magharbel and Mathew Akiyama added one goal a piece.  Against West, senior goalie Noah Werksman scored both a full and three quarter shot!!!!
