Health & Wellness Masthead
January 2016

Happy New Year! This is Derrick, your local Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) Youth Development Specialist (and chocolate aficionado). I'm here bringing you an update on the marvelous work that is being done across the county with our TUPE Peer Educator Program!

We have spent the last few months intensely training TUPE Peer Educators from Antioch, Byron, Mt. Diablo, Pittsburg, and West Contra Costa school districts. To date, we have trained 383 middle and high school students! I know, that's a lot of Peer Educators!

Many sites kicked off the year with school-wide efforts in November, focused on the national Great American Smokeout.  Awesome job by everyone who participated. In the coming weeks, Peer Educators will also be doing prevention instruction in classrooms. I'll be sure to update you on their future endeavors. Thank you for your interest and ongoing support.

Good luck with those resolutions,

Derrick Kirk
