Health & Wellness Masthead
August 2015

Happy New (School) Year!

I hope that this e-newsletter finds you well. As for Contra Costa Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE), we have a number of exciting updates to share!
  • In May, we were thrilled to learn that we were one of only 18 TUPE grant applications funded. This 2015-18 grant will add Mt. Diablo and Pittsburg to our consortium with Antioch, Byron, and West Contra Costa!
  • With the expansion of TUPE, in order to continue providing high-quality support for all Contra Costa districts, our TUPE Team is growing! Stay tuned for a "Meet the TUPE Team" article in our next e-newsletter.
If you have any questions regarding TUPE, or other adolescent health-related issues, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Emily Justice

Critical Information for Schools on Immunization & Health Coverage Laws

From the California School-Based Health Alliance: We want you to know about two new laws that affect California schools.
  1. AB 2706 requires schools to offer information about health coverage to families during student registration.
  2. SB 277 does away with personal belief exemptions for immunizations and goes into effect July 2016.
