"My goal is to empower others to move beyond their limitations and live their dreams."
~ Lori Schneider
|
Join us for a day of inspiration, courage and determination as we witness the possibilities when harnessing the power of the mind.
Climbing Beyond our Limits
Keynote international speaker Lori Schneider takes us on a journey to the top of Mt. Everest, after climbing the world's highest peak on each continent while living with Multiple Sclerosis.
Lori Schneider is a mountain climber, teacher, lifelong learner and inspirational speaker. She is one of approximately 37 women in the world to climb the Seven Summits, the highest peak on each continent, and one of only five women over the age of 50 to accomplish this. With her successful summit of Mt. Everest on May 23, 2009, she became the first person with multiple sclerosis (MS) to complete the Seven Summits. In addition to a message of hope and self-empowerment, Lori shares her story to inspire people to be a ll that they can be. She weaves together the story of climbing the world's highest peaks with the story of her life, encouraging people to live their dreams and free themselves from fear. In 2011, Lori led a group of people with MS and Parkinson's disease on a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro, in Africa that included Dr. Monique Giroux and Sierra Farris.
"My goal in joining Lori on this amazing adventure was to encourage and empower my patients to be defined by their abilities and not a disease, to reach beyond their diagnosis and continue to challenge themselves. Inspired by Lori's accomplishments and my dedication to raise the bar for people living with neurologic conditions, I joined the team and opened the door for my patients with Parkinson's to embark on a challenge of a life-time."
Sierra Farris
You will also experience Mt. Kilimanjaro with presentations from Dr. Monique Giroux, Sierra Farris, and teammates John Carlin and Martha Carlin. In the coming months, we will highlight these other climbers and their amazing stories.
