Greetings!

Greetings from Colorado's Movement & Neuroperformance Center
Empathic Care. Empowered Patient. Mindful Healing.

Finding the best fit for your care can be daunting, especially when living with a progressive condition. Throughout the year we will dedicate a portion of our newsletter to our staff so you can learn about their interests, expertise, philosophy and commitment to providing the best possible care. Below, we introduce Dr. Giroux, our medical director and CEO.

Our staff work hard to provide not only the best services but also innovative education and support programs for the community. Take a moment to learn about these special events.
Medical Expert & Compassionate Doctor
Dr. GirouxTo get to know Dr. Giroux a little better, we have summarized some of her accomplishments that illustrate her commitment to helping patients live their best.

Dr. Giroux is our medical director and co-founder of the Center. Dr. Giroux is a board certified neurologist that treats conditions that affect the brain and nervous system. She is also a sub-specialist in movement disorders that includes medical problems that affect movement, balance, posture, emotions, sleep and thinking.

To become a sub-specialist, Dr. Giroux completed additional medical training that included a two-year fellowship from experts in the field of movement disorders. In fact, she is the only physician in the US to complete fellowship training in both movement disorders and Integrative Medicine. Care from a trained expert provides you with the highest quality care and the best that medicine has to offer to manage your condition over your life-time. In addition to expert care, Dr. Giroux believes strongly in patient-centered compassionate care and the power of the mind to heal, live better and stronger. You can learn more about the mind-body connection, brain health and well-being at the Mind-body workshop on March 16th.

"Patient-centered care with compassion and empathy is not just our philosophy of care, it is how we conduct our clinic- every day for every patient."

Dr. Giroux is on medical staff at Swedish Hospital in Englewood Colorado, an integral physician of the Swedish DBS team and member of the Colorado Neurological Institute.

Dr. Giroux's experience in DBS started during her fellowship in 1996. Her expertise in DBS and movement disorders brought an opportunity for her to direct the outpatient  movement disorders department at the Cleveland Clinic working alongside renown leaders in DBS surgery, research and care. Offering world class care to patients that undergo DBS surgery is a primary focus in our clinic that is adjacent to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood Colorado. Patient Empowerment
Kilimanjaro
Dr. Giroux extends her compassion beyond clinical care by supporting and encouraging individuals with neurological conditions to realize life-long dreams and goals that seem out of reach. Dr. Giroux, using her mountaineering skills, accompanied a team of individuals with Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis to tackle Africa's highest peak. See the amazing adventure unfold in a series of photos and video on
the Center website. This philosophy is embraced by Dr. Giroux and the center staff that the power of the mind expands our abilities and redefines ourselves- not by a label or disease- but by who we are as people. Experience the beauty of Africa and be inspired to find your own summit at our first Empowerment Summit on May 11th.

We hope you enjoy reading more about our team and philosophy of care. On behalf of the Movement & Neuroperformance Center of Colorado and our staff, we hope this new year brings you peace, happiness and a sense of empowerment.
