 IN FOCUS
National Volunteer Recognition Week is celebrated annually to recognize the significant contribution of volunteers across Canada. The theme of the special week this year (April 21-27, 2013) is Volunteers Cast a Beautiful Shadow.
The last Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating was completed in 2010. The results showed impressive numbers - 13.3 million Canadians over the age of 15 participated in volunteering and collectively contributed a total of 2.1 billion volunteer hours.
The collective contribution of our volunteers' efforts, skills and time serves as the foundation for all Hypertension Canada's programs and activities to prevent and control hypertension in Canada. Volunteers are involved in our organization in all areas, providing strong leadership for both governance and operations.
During National Volunteer Week, we celebrate the work and achievements of the many volunteers that contribute the gift of their time and knowledge to advance our mission. Thank you to our many volunteers for their significant contribution to the important work of blood pressure control in Canada.
Sincerely,
Judi Farrell
