Back to School! New backpacks, new teachers, new opportunities to learn and grow. Some kids can't wait, others, well, let's just say it is something they are obligated to do. Imagine a study comparing the grades of those who can't wait to get back to school against those who would rather sit on the couch and play more video games! I'm sure attitude plays into many aspects of school success.

This September, we are going to begin a new series called "Worship." This is a great time to renew our commitment and praise to God. You don't need a new Bible or a new set of clothes.  Just you. You and God. Your praise and thanks given to God. Each week, we will look at a different aspect of Worship. See if you can figure out what we are talking about based on the Message titles below. If that doesn't work, read the texts and see what God might be saying to you about Worship. And be sure to come and join this amazing family of faith as we lift our voices in praise and celebration of God and all that God is doing for us. Come with great enthusiasm and excitement for God's loving presence in your life.

Mission Outside the Doors: Mark Your Calendar

Giving is the greatest expression of God's love in the world. What are you called to do? Consider these upcoming opportunities:

  • Informational meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8th for anyone who would like to volunteer to work with the Pantry on getting emergency groceries to families in need in the Ball Chatham School District. Volunteer opportunities can require as little, or as much, time as you are able and willing to give!  If you like to grocery shop - we have a job for you!  If you like to write - we have a job for you!  If you love to do accounting - we have a great job for you!!  If you like to coordinate things and be in contact with businesses in the community - we have something for you!!  Please plan to attend the meeting, which will last an hour or less - but your impact will make a difference that can last a lifetime! Contact Michelle Wiseman at 494-1413 for more details.

  • Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach The Hospital Sisters Mission recycles, sorts and packages hospital supplies to ship to third world countries where the need is great. CPC members now volunteer 1-3 p.m. each Thursday, and other times are available. Contact Bob Speicher for more info.
  • St. John's Breadline: Help prepare and serve meals for hundreds in Springfield who would otherwise go without. All volunteers welcome, age 13-99+. Sign up at Mission Board or for more info, contact Debbie Biel.

THANK YOU FROM THE KNOLLENBERG FAMILY

Our family would like to thank our amazing church family for every prayer, hug, meal and other kind act that has been shown to us during this challenging time. You have all been extremely supportive, and you may not even realize what a blessing you have been. You have encouraged us during a time when we needed encouragement, prayed for us when we needed prayer and helped to make our home easier for TJ to come home to with the needs he has now, and that is just a partial list. With much thanks and gratitude, Tina and TJ Knollenberg.
