Greetings!
Happy May Day! We offer praises for a wonderful Confirmation Sunday as we welcomed our new confirmands as members into the CPC family. Also, thanks to all for a smooth congregational meeting and many blessings to Joe and Susan Eby as they enjoy vacation days this month followed by sabbatical time in June.
Condolences are sent to the family of Raymond Reed. A funeral dinner is set for this Friday, May 4th in the parlor and foyer outside the sanctuary. If you can donate a casserole, dessert, salad or side dish, it would be much appreciated. The Reed family is expecting up to 75 people for the funeral dinner. Contact Sharon Reynolds at 483-4436 if you are able to help Friday morning.
Calling the men of the church! Make plans to attend the Men of Chatham Breakfast this Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. in the Adult Sunday School Room. Special guest will be Rabbi Michael Datz, and the conversation promises to be thought-provoking and encouraging.
You'll be hearing more about CPC's new Life Groups below, and here's a chance to join a Community Garden Life Group and help the Chatham Food Pantry at the same time. Kirk Farah is coordinating CPC's first ever Community Garden, and we need your help. Immediate needs include: a tiller, good black garden dirt, fertilizer, fencing and small plants including: tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, carrots. And if you have a green thumb, we'd love for you to help. Contact Kirk at 572-5781 or email him with your ideas and offers to help.

Clubhouse Kids Friends, Faith and Fun! During May, the Clubhouse kids will focus on one of their 2012 goals - prayer - specifically how and why people pray through Biblical examples beginning with Jesus and including David, Jonah and the Persistent Widow and some special guests from our own congregation. Children who don't already know the Lord's Prayer will learn it and those who do will understand it better.
Note to Parents: Encourage your children to pray aloud with you at home. A strong prayer life requires practice - let's give them an early start along that path.
Parent volunteers needed for May and this summer. Contact Laura Van Proyen and let her know which Sundays you can help out at The Clubhouse!

Meets & Eats is back! Come join us for a wonderful opportunity for adult fellowship and fun while getting to know more of your church family. Kick-off starts with a potluck on Friday, May 11th at 6:00 p.m. in Olsen Hall. Meat and drinks will be provided; please plan to bring a side or dessert to share. Come to the potluck even if you haven't signed up for Meets & Eats yet. We'll add you to the list that night. **The potluck is adults only with no childcare provided. All participants will be divided into different small groups for each dinner gathering in July, September & November. The groups will be designed to mix and mingle so that folks get to know CPC people they might not have met before. The host of each group contacts everyone on their list at the beginning of the month to lock down a date and time for the meal, as well as what to bring. Can't host? No worries! Several people have already signed up who are able to host. Email Judy Woerner or Sara Metzger if you have any questions or want to get in on the fun. Thanks! |

Crossroads Counseling Center
Kids' Good Grief was a great success this past Sunday. 24 kids participated who were grieving the loss of moms, dads or grandparents. Twelve teenagers from Frontline Student Ministries participated and served as team leaders. Camp director Donna Thurston shares: "The Frontline teens did a phenomenal job helping the young kids have fun and process their feelings related to their loss. We are excited about the opportunity we had to serve these young children, and we look forward to planning Kids' Good Grief Camp next year."
We all need help at one time or another. If you are burdened and in need of counseling, Crossroads Counseling Center is here at CPC. Call Donna Thurston or Margie Wheelhouse at 483-1224.
