Celebrating Black History
Month at Bon Secours

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, celebrates achievements by black Americans and recognizes their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has designated February as Black History Month.

Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, Black History Month hands also designate a month to celebrating black history.

Check out PBS programming during February for some interesting stories of how African-Americans have shaped our nation.

Please help get the word out. If you have a friend or family member who needs health insurance coverage, please ask them to call Advanced Patient Advocacy at 877-272-6001 or BeneFinder at 855-213-4323.

Working Despite the Weather

Thankfully, we're not having another polar vortex this year. But it's February, and there's still a chance of snowflake winter weather. Be aware of your department's policy on reporting to work in inclement weather, as all Bon Secours Virginia employees are expected to have a reliable way to meet their schedule and patient obligations, even with snow on the ground.

Policies can vary from hospital to hospital and within different departments, so it's important to understand your procedure and make plans in advance.
