Home, Home on the Hill!

We hope that many of you will join us for Homecoming this weekend, Oct 25-27, as we celebrate the purpose, the people, and the place that retain a special home in our hearts. A full slate of activities is planned, including the Talent Show, the Sprinter Fun Run, Alumni Registration (complete with some great giveaways), the Family Fun Zone, an Alumni Mixer, and Sunday morning worship in the Chapel of the Christ. Of course, you'll have plenty of opportunity to cheer on your Knights as soccer, volleyball, and football all compete on campus. Click here for a weekend schedule.

It's Built. . . . They Are Coming!

On Monday, October 21, the new MLC Early Childhood Learning Center opened its doors. Thank you to all who supported the Let the Children Come campaign with generous gifts to help make this wonderful addition to ministry training a reality. The beautiful new facility will help MLC meet the synod's directive to train more teachers for the growing early childhood ministries of our churches. You're invited to attend a brief dedication and thanksgiving service at the site this Sunday, October 27, at 1:00 pm. An open house opportunity to view the center will follow. Click here for directions or more information on the dedication. Clicking the picture will open a photo gallery of ECLC construction.

Preserving our Past

Special thanks to the Northwestern College Alumni Society for funding a new historical sign chronicling 130 years of faithful preseminary training at NWC. Over 100 NWC alumni gathered at the sign for its dedication during the 2013 Synod Convention. Click here to view a close-up of the sign.

2014 Alumni Tour
Features National Parks

Lord willing, the sixth annual MLC alumni tour will depart from MLC on July 22 for a 9-day, 8-night trip to several of our national treasures, including the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Roosevelt National Parks. We will travel via deluxe motor-coach and have comfortable accommodations (including three nights in the renowned Old Faithful Inn). The tour is sponsored by the MLC Alumni Association and is open to all WELS members. Prof. Lyle Lange will lead daily worship, and Alumni Director Steve Balza will serve as guide. Click here for a brochure.

Luther Enjoys Spring Cleaning

Thanks to your contributions, the MLC Alumni Association funded a long overdue "bath" for our Martin Luther statue. The familiar campus icon had not been thoroughly cleaned and waxed since its arrival in 1995. Not only was it "going green," it also had been experiencing ceramic mold (also called investment) leakage through the bronze, causing unsightly crustacean-like buildup in various places. Stop by Luther next time you are on campus and compliment him on his hygiene and nice tan. Click here to learn more about the statue and its history.

MLCAA will soon be launching its Aaron's Arms program, seeking sustaining membership support to fund student scholarships and other non-budgeted campus projects such as this one.
