We all know that special warm feeling that Thanksgiving engenders.  Isn't it almost everyone's favorite holiday?

Why?  Gratitude opens the heart and the mind.  It recognizes that each of us has the gift of life, and most of us have much more.

You have a chance to express that gratitude by sharing with the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines  -- where 3976 are dead and more than 4 million displaced.

Consider a gift to Save the Children, one of GG's recommended charities.

  • Save the Children has worked in the Philippines since 1981.
  • Now more than 100 staff are on the ground in areas hardest hit by the typhoon.
  • Twelve doctors have been dispatched to offer immediate treatment of the injured and ill.
  • A Save the Children aid plane has arrived, with more on the way.  Supplies and aid on board include: Haiyan tornado victims
    • Temporary shelter supplies such as winterized tents, tarps, blankets, water-proof sheeting, buckets and kitchen items,
    • Four mobile clinics with all the necessary medical equipment, &
    • 500 newborn kits with diapers, lotions, and warm baby clothes.

Happy Thanks Giving!

P.S.  You were one of the great sources of Thanksgiving for the Global Grandmothers Board and advisors as we sat at our own table last Friday and worked on our common (but not modest!) goal -- to eliminate poverty worldwide!  Here we are, in a photo by advisor Paola Gianturco.
