Ending Child Slavery - A Message from the Girls of Nepal on International Day of the Girl
|
On June 27, the government of Nepal declared the abolition of the Kamlari system, the child slavery institution that has victimized poor Nepalese girls for many years. Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF), one of GG's recommended charities, has led this fight.
Over the last decade more than 12,000 girls have been rescued. With support from NYF, the newly freed girls have formed the Freed Kamlari Development Forum (FKDF). FKDF has organized marches and performed street theater in Kathmandu and across Western Nepal to build awareness and support for these girls.
NYF provides educational opportunities for these girls.

Your donation to NYF will help these young women build a new life. It could be the perfect linked gift for your granddaughter's birthday, or for another important child in your life.
Let's hear it for girls, for bravery, and for second chances. And thank you, NYF!
