Global-Gram
Welcome to the Season of Thanksgiving - and the end of the season of elections!

I was heartened to note that October 27th was designated, "Make a Difference Day."  As a Global Grandmother you already have made a commitment to make the world a better place for children and to discover unique and meaningful approaches to carry out your goals.   There are so many ways to support volunteerism and community service!

Across continents, we join in support for Malala Yousufzai, the teenage Pakistani girl who is fighting to recover from serious injuries.  She dared to awaken the world to the atrocities women and children face across the globe.

Here at home, an important organization that your grandchildren probably know about is "Character Counts," www.charactercounts.org.  Its programs have been implemented in many public and private schools throughout America.  Its Six Pillars feature the values of Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Citizenship and Caring.  Just remember, and share with your grandchildren:  T.R.R.F.C.C. or "terrific"!

You may have seen a beautiful video called "Dance of A Thousand Hands" which has been circulating by email recently.  By clicking here, see this extraordinary dance, performed by hearing-impaired women in Beijing, China.  It visually exemplifies the beauty and magnitude of many hearts and hands working together, our vision of Global Grandmothers.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of children near and far!

Sincerely,
Shirley Caine,
Vice President, Global Grandmothers
